If you have to have so many hours before you can fly for even a Regional then why is it so important to get your licenses at less hours or even faster?
I know about the VA benefits and am looking for info besides that.

hrs for regionals aren't everything. As soon as you get your commercial rating you can start flying for other people.
141 is more structured. However I have found them to be the worst option. Usually better MX on aircraft but more strict rules and you conform to them vs. them conforming to you. You can't usually switch instructors ect. In the grand scheme of things if you can go 61 do so. However for universities ect. they want a centralized program so they would require 141.
I preferred part 61. I did both. Part 61 realizes that I'm the one paying. I'm the customer. What the customer wants the customer gets. I could see it was sunny outside, call the airport and tell them i wanted the plane fueled and waiting, and when I got the aircraft was ready to go. I also could fly on weekends ect. much easier.

I also did some of both. I only did 141 to get it done fast. It forced me to do it full time and get the ratings done instead of dragging it out over a longer period of time. I also like the financial aid in 141. You can't get money for 61.

I went through 141 all the way, and another thing that 141 offers is connections to the next step in the industry, be it corporate, airline, or otherwise. My school had numerous internship/bridge programs for their students to go and build connections and/or get some unique flying experience over the summers, and such experiences allowed me to get hired at the regionals without many hours. Horizon actually goes to the UND campus to interview.
Just a few things to think about. I can definitely see the advantages/disadvantages to both. It's all in what you want and what you want to pay for.
