Default DFW crews: Live in Coppell or Flower Mound ?

I am looking at a possible move to DFW area. With that said, I am considering Flower Mound or Coppell due to school quality. Lean towards Coppell due to "small town" feel and nice parks, etc.

I am being told that Coppell has "huge" taxes but what is the real difference ?

Any other tips, info, is welcome. Thanks

Yes Coppell has high property taxes. Take a look at Keller and Roanoke.

I lived in Lewisville and found it tolerable. The communities toward Ft. Worth were usually less expensive.

I live in Coppell, but when it comes to the area, there's no small town feel IMHO. Flower Mound is cool too. Both nice areas w/great schools.

The Coppell property tax rate is 2.72%, Roanoke is 2.10%. Highland Park is a steal at 2.00% but you need ~1 million to enter. In round numbers Coppell houses are going around $300k, Roanoke around $150k.

Keller is high too...2.6%. I lived in Heritage which has a strange Keller/Fort Worth/Tarrant county overlap and it was closer to 3%.

Edit: I found this online from 2010. Heritage subdivision: Fort Worth city (0.86%) + Keller isd (1.49%) + Tarrant county (0.63%) = 2.98%

Thank you everyone. I wonder if FM is "just a tad far" from Dallas museums, etc stuff to include Addision and Love. Wife and kids are big into zoo, museums, plays/theatre etc stuff.

I lean towards Coppell, and am inclined to pay higher for it. Am I a moron or what do people think.

Coppell = purported small town feel, it is "built out" (no surprise super Wal-Marts popping up), access to DFW, access to Addison, Love RE: contract flying etc. Also good schools. Mid-way Ft Worth/Dallas also.

Also higher taxes....

Given what you said about the family and their favorite activities, look at Rockwall. I know of some SW pilots who live out there. A guy from my TXARNG unit lived out there. It seemed to be a nice area.
