Are there any good job board sites that are free? i'm broke and just trying to decide if i want to fork out the $$ for a membership to any of the before mentioned job sites. if not, has anyone had much luck finding jobs on sites that require a fee? if so it would be easier to justify spending the paper. thanks folks

USpilot is a free one. I see some of the stuff on there that I see on the pay sites.
|
Here's a job search site that has quite a few listings I haven't seen anywhere else, domestic and foreign. Input your flight time and ratings and it gives you a list of jobs you qualify for worldwide:
Airline Pilot Jobs It also has a system that lets you rate companies based on equipment, pay, and some other stuff. Check it out. P.S. It's totally free too |

Thanks for the tips everyone! I've all but given up anyway. I think I've sent a resume to every company in the US that has an airplane. Might just have to go work line service again till people start hiring again. :(

I have looked at the free websites and all of them just copy job postings from the pay for websites such as WFFF and ClimbTo350. Problem is they are posted days or even weeks later and by that time many of the good positions are already filled by persons that subscribe to these services! In addition you miss out on the companies that search the pilot databases and don't post their job openings at all. Basically you get what you pay for! The costs are extremely low when you consider how much it could cost you by missing out on a great opportunity.
All hiring information is available somewhere, there are just sites that put the information together. There is NO NEED to pay for what you can get for free. Maybe MIACapt should change his name to MIAAirlineCEO for your lack of ability to handle money. "Checklist for success" was a great book, in 1997. Since then WFFF has been nothing but a site with outdated gouge. Of course Cheryl Cage is charging for the stuff you can get for free elsewhere- United isn't hiring and her $300, decade old, prep can't pay the bills anymore. |
Take it easy....

MIACapt, I feel like I should get a free toaster with this advertisement. Why, if the pay sites are so good at finding you a "great opportuniity", and you are a Captain and a line holder, would you be looking at job sites at all?

Wow, your response is rather inappropriate. (IMO) The guy was just stating his opinion, obviously frustrated with the state of websites that target pilot's looking for employment. True, you are also stating your opinion, but your intentions don't appear to be helpful in any way. Rather personal don't you think? |
I realize that there are many posts on here for websites. Has anyone paid to use willflyforfood or findapilot?
Also does anyone know of 1-2 sites out of all of these lists that has lots of listings...or as many listings as these pays sites show me but dont let me get into? |
This article talks about using LinkedIn and Xing as a platform for professional networking. It is geared towards IT, financial services, media and education, but less so for aviation or pilot jobs. So, if you are thinking of changing out of aviation, you might want to consider these. Studies have shown that many jobs are not listed or published, but gotten through word of mouth.

Most jobs online posted for pilots are for guys much farther along in there career. To find an entry level job right now would be rare, cause there are enough guys on the street where they can just pass them to the first guy that comes along.

IASCO in California is hiring. They're looking for qualified CFIs for both their Napa and Redding locations. They also lease flight crews to domestic and international companies. A friend of mine tried to get me on board, but I didn't have the multi time. Good luck to us all!
Take Flight with IASCO! |
awesome post.. thankyou very much...
|
All these sites are great, but most of them are pay to play. I think it is ridiculous that I have to shell out my hard earned cash to view a job posting on a web site. Arrrggh!!! Rant over.
Anyone know of any FREE sites that aren't loaded with recruiters posting heavy iron jobs in SE Asia? |
i just registered with USPilot and it seems to be a good site. it's free-
|
What is your time worth?
I have been to many of the job sites. The free ones do a ok job but I do see them missing some of the newest pilot jobs and they also recycle the jobs often. I joined USpilot and for free they do a ok job but recycle the jobs often even when they are just a couple of days old.
What I have been amazed about is the amount of time it can take to search the internet to find jobs. I guess that is really what you are paying for when you join a site. For a few dollars they do the work. The free sites don't quite have the motivation to search daily. I have used Findapilot, Willflyforfood, Climbto350 and a couple more. I think being a member at a few is the best way to cover all the bases. That way each day you only spend 10 min. seeing what jobs are out there instead of many hours. To me that is worth$20 to $30 a month to join a few. A new site I joined but didn't see on the list is www.pilotsconnect.com. The job page is www.pilotsconnect.com/pilot-jobs They have a job page and do a good job with what is out there daily and digging up harder to find jobs. |
Pilotcareercentre.com. Good luck and enjoy
|
Thanks a lot guys, very helpful.
|
wow that a long list of sites.. Anyone had good luck with free ones? Best 5?
