Hi,
Are you still with GCA? Tom |
You guys loosing pilots or something? ;)
Take Care buddy... DD |
Still at GCA for now until another opportunity comes up. In the mean time I need to put together a ground school for Feb. 08. One for GCA and the other for AGC. Trying to prepare for the season. The plan is to base 207s and one or two Caravans out of Page. Twin Otters will cover the overflow and of course GCN and 61B. The Scenic / GCA full merger is still 90+ days away.
Mike |
What does competitive pay mean?
When I was working the ramp at scenic, the FO's weren't making enough to live. Any changes to that? |
Any idea what is expected in 90 days with the merge?
|
Caravans? Are they bright green?
|
Just an update. All resumes submitted to me have been forwaded to management in Las Vegas/Boulder City for review and consideration. All interviews will be conducted in Boulder City. The hiring need right now is for Captains or First Officers that can be upgraded quickly.
The full merger is still a few months away and any changes are not known aside from obvious operational procedures. There is work in progress to increase pay and benefits, but will know more in a few weeks. The overall goal is to retain Captains and First Officers. Caravans will NOT be green. |
REAL DeHavillands have RADIALS!!!!
|
Yes, we have real "RADIAL" tires on our Twin Otters!
|
LOL!!! Nice, but are you sure they're not bias ply???
I know where to get -3 and -6 time, but I doubt I'd ever find a Caribou or Buffalo to complete the family. The Canucks know how to build interesting aircraft, huh? Cheers, Ronin |
Only have the DHC-6 time in the Canadian birds. They are fun to fly and very reliable.

Depends on whos swinging the wrenches... |
now...now... Ditchdog that's a biased opinion based on personal experience.
|
Do you know when the next class is for the twin otter FOs?
|
I like the bias-ply tires comment.
Any one know if there are part time pilots flying the otters? |
Are the Caravans gonna be operated single-pilot?

Yes the caravans will be operated single pilot.
|
Any update on the pay raises?
|
Nothing yet.
|
The pay raises are still being negotiated and we should know something in a week or two. I myself would also like to know soon. Yes, the Caravans will be single-pilot and VFR only for now. I would expect though they will be IFR operated as we get more of them. We have only one 208 right now and they just wanted to get it flying ASAP.
Interviews and ground school for the Otters are being conducted in Boulder City (61B). I would be happy to forward resumes to the Chief Pilot. There is a ground school starting shortly for the Otter. Anyone interested in flying Cessna T207s, we are also interviewing for a ground school at the end of March for Air Grand Canyon. Mike |
Would an Active Duty Air Force pilot have a chance for a part time job? I'll be on a non-flying assignment in Vegas for the next 3 years (moving there this summer). My times: 1000 turbine, about 800 PIC turbine all in fighters. Would love to continue flying somehow and I'm interested. Thanks.
|
We do hire Part Time Captains but not Part Time F/Os. The only limitation with your time might be that it is centerline thrust. With an ATP and some training I doubt that it would be too much of an issue.
|
Thanks,
I don't have the ATP yet due to total time, and I was planning on getting the centerline thrust limitation removed via training at the local FBO. I'll definitely try to make contact w/ the company once in Vegas to see what the options are. Thanks again, Mike |
Is there still a training contract? Or was that just a Scenic thing?
What are the schedules like? |
No training contract. Schedules generally are 5 on 2 off. You might be able to work out a 4 on 3 off schedule. Depends if you are a Captain or F/O.
|
Man, if they make the pay something livable, I will break my long-standing vow to avoid flying for Scenic.
|
Dumb question....I applied to Scenic about 6 months ago, since you guys are not "officially" merged, I'd be applying and interviewing with totally different people (at GCA) this time around?
|
Any word on the new pay rates?

Hey...what's wrong with Scooby Snacks???
|
Canyonair- How long is the upgrade from FO to CA? How firm are they on the ME minimums? I'm at 1200/40
|
I'm not canyonair but to upgrade you need atp mins and 500 hours in the otter.
|
so is this job pretty fun? hows the area to live in?
|
It depends on what you like to do in your free time.
if you live on the south rim it is limited on things to do, if you live in boulder city your in Vegas what else can I say. |
2 questions:
Are they still in need of pilots? If so, how much flying could one expect to get in the first year? |
Ya they need pilots, you could expect 500- 800 hours by October when the season starts to slow down.
|
New pay schedule will be announced on Monday. Scheduled to be implemented on April 13. It is an improvement over both the old Scenic and GCA pay scales. More details to follow after the announcement.
|
