Default $109 for what?

I could help it, I had to click on the Fltops.com article on the home page and see who this list of participating companies is that I need to drop $109, and travel expenses for...

All Nippon Airways - Crew Resources Worldwide
- 3,000 TT with 1,000 commercial jet time

I know 10K+ TT, MD11 and A320 captains who put in for this and heard nothing, not even a thank you for your application... also, unless you're in perfect health/cholesterol/height to weight/vision etc.. forget it.

American Eagle
- Information only - not recruiting

Compass Airlines
- 1500 TT (FW or rotor) 500 ME FW

We know what those pay... sub $20K/yr... you're better off staying on unemployment and seeing your family, instead of living in a crashpad with 6 other guys with your 11 days of a month schedule... 2-3 days off, and commuting..

World Airline Services
- 7,000TT Captains with 1,000 on type, 3,000TT and 500 on type for F/O's

I never even heard of these guys... there are sooooo many more reputable crew leasing companies like IASCO, PARC and others that will find you work if you're qualified without you having to travel to Dallas for $109+expenses.

So, I have to ask...... Seriously?

Is this about helping pilots? Or are we trying to cover some overhead costs in a down turn?

Thumbs down $109

Yeah I totally agree. Not one of these employers is a resonable goal for an unemployed pilot. Depending on the NWA-DAL outcome compass may be worth it if you can survive the short run of 20k a year. Since I already did my time at Eagle I would recomend to everyone to stay away (due to 5+ year upgrades) As for Crew resources worldwide claims they accepting resumes for non type rated guys for ANA but I have had my app with them for 6 months and haven't heard anything. If this happens the same time next year I think it will be worth the $109 but right now I think it would be a waste of time and money.

Flt ops charges the airlines to attend the show and set up a booth. So they make a little from both sides of the equation here.

So, I'd say "covering some overhead costs" is more likely the case!! And its not just in a down turn, that is their modus operandi.
