The cost of living in Warrensburg, MO is low. Single bedroom apartments from $299 - $599 a month. Two/Three bedroom apartment from $499 - $899 a month. Warrensburg has a “small” town feel to it; however, a 45 min. drive will get you to Lee’s Summit which has many stores you are probably accustomed to (Best Buy, Kohl’s, JC Penney, Macy’s, Old Navy, Borders, etc.).

Thanks for the listing. Do you know what a CFI/CFII/MEI with C172, G1000 and 141 experience can expect to make hourly and how many hours one can fly?

 

The pay structure begins at 10.50hr. Each of the following are a one dollar/hr raise: CFII, MEI, BS, MS, 100hrs. dual given, 300hrs. dual given, 500 hrs. dual given, 800hrs. dual given, 1000hrs given (maxes out at 19.50).

They try their hardest to accommodate instructors they hire from outside the area (out of state really) by making sure they have a full load of students. I'm gonna low ball it and guess that you would get between 4-8hrs. a day 5 days a week. It really depends on your motivation and willingness to work. I know of instructors there that put in close to 40hrs. a week and others that only put in 15hrs. a week (this includes ground so not all flight time).

JUst wondering if there were any benefits and if the job is classified as part time or full time?

 

There are no health benefits. The job is classified as part time. However, the University is operated by appointment letters. An appointment letter is given for x number of months. The CFI appointment letter is a 12 month letter. After the 12 months a new appointment letter is drafted and singed.

Well, from what I have gathered through the grape vine is that the powers to be have finished interviewing for the available positions. I guess those of you that got hired I'll meet at training.

They are hiring again, but AVOID THIS PLACE, all they ever do is threaten to fire everyone after 6 months based on student stage check completion. It was hard to watch students go through this place being nickeled and dime for everything, including phone calls were billable.

 

The pay is not very good either. I emailed my resume in and was contacted for an interview the next day. I have a few hundred dual given and some skill teaching. They wanted me to drive/fly up for an interview to make 50% of my current hourly rate. Instructor rates are not going to go up to what we are worth until we demand more.

 

Only problem is, just like the airlines, there are hundreds of CFI's with thousands of hours of dual given on the street looking for a CFI job. But there are just as many (if not more) freshly minted CFIs with 0 under "Dual Given" in their logbook.

What's even worse, is there are Furloughed airline pilots who are looking to get a CFI gig until they get called back
