What do you guys think of this?

WASHINGTON (AP) — There are signs that future airline pilots will be less experienced, less ethical and in short supply, a panel of experts told an aviation safety forum on Tuesday. Continue reading with link below..

The safety board said the crash occurred after the plane stalled because the pilot pulled back, instead of pushing forward, on a key piece of safety equipment.
What? The yoke!
Am I reading this wrong?

I think this is key in today's environment:
Kern observed that "advances in technology have made the modern cockpit so error tolerant that a pilot can make literally hundreds of errors and commit scores of violations without serious consequence. Experience – once the great teacher – now teaches pilots that errors and violations don't really matter. Unwittingly, we may have engineered ourselves into a culture of noncompliance."

True. And that is further challenged by the nature of gaging airmanship and professionalism in the future hiring boom (to keep it context related) -- from the interviewer's chair, how do you see this coming:

Kern received several disturbing responses. They included reports of pilots wearing "iPod headsets underneath their regular airline headsets" and "folks telling me that people bring gaming systems into the cockpit and are using them [during] certain phases of flight."

I have been hearing this pilot shortage crap for more than 20 yrs now.
Everytime there looks like a "shortage" may be a few years down the road, something happens. Pan Am bombing, Lorenzos, 9/11, Economic meltdown, Tech bubble burst, etc, etc. A real shortage ain't gonna happen. The only shortage will be those willing to work for miserable pay rates.
