Actually I'm being encouraged to recruit my "drinking buddies" to come in and do their MEI's with me. I've built 3 hours that way. LoL!!!

Oh I know. It's complete BS. This veteran super MEI throw-back from the regionals actually is a terrible CFI. They just had a student fail their Multi....on the ground. Never even made it to the plane. THAT'S RARE. Every time I see the DPI come out of the room after a check-ride with an applicant this CFI recommended, he's admonishing them what it will take to pass the check-ride. It's hysterical. What are we selling here?? Paper tigers???

It all depends. The person with the most time isn't necessarily the best teacher. I can understand why the flight school does it, but it's not really fair to the CFIs. Not fair to the students if the high time guy isn't a good teacher either.
