I have heard that just about half of the applications that they have received have been from folks who already hold the certificate.

What they are running into, is that by 2013 or whenever it is speculated to be, all part 121 pilots will at least have to meet the requirements of holding an ATP. So lets say you are hired now with 800TT, there is a very good chance with being on reserve at some airlines that you wouldn't meet the 1500 hour requirement and be sent packing.
This is not true, message came out from the union yesterday that they have been turning down qualified applicants because of the ATP thing. The company wanted 26 in the Feb 1 class only got 15. So anyone that has the ATP mins and was turned away because they do not have the Cert should be getting a call. This was communication from the union last night so take it for what its worth.

Also said there's a CHQ class that needs 35 at the end of this month. People seemed really excited about. Judging by the vacancy award that went out yesterday, most will go to MKE and only a few to GRR or other exotic destinations.

It wouldn't take anything to make the checkride a certificate ride. Just some add'l paperwork for the sim instructor. The company is just being lazy.

That would be awesome! Sitting next to the phone now! I was one of the first guys interviewed so hopefully the phone will ring soon. Thanks for the input.

I would at least refresh your application.

I'm not sure how Frontier applies to the current discussion. Of course Frontier airline pilots aren't going to say they aren't close to having ATP mins. They've put in their dues at regionals and other places already. RAH is not hiring into the airbus, however. They are hiring into the EMB/ERJs. No other regional that I'm aware of is currently requiring an ATP cert to fly equivalent equipment. Most are 1000TT/100 multi. I know the new rule requiring all 121 pilots to have ATPs is coming up in a couple years, but it's not here yet and I am hoping to get back in before it takes effect.

If Republic wants everyone they hire to at least meet ATP mins, that's cool. I just think they are jumping the gun and that the minimums will come down sooner than later anyways as they have trouble finding people meeting that criteria and willing to work for $23/hr. But I've been wrong before (once or twice)

Yes I do have my ATP but I took the written about nine months ago, so I need to go back over it again.

You know I wondered about that. The recruiter told me over the phone that the ATP certificate was required due to changes that the FAA put in place last year. I knew that was not the case yet, but I wasn't going to argue with someone who was potentially going to be giving me an interview. He is rather new to aviation recruiting (6 months) so maybe he misunderstood.

I also interviewd with RAH, and before the interview began, the recruiter told me that they can't hired me if I dont have an atp cert. I have the ATP mins and written. On the other hand, if you get sic type on the EMB170/9 or EMB145 you are trained on ATP standard, I don't think it would be hard for the company to give you ATP cert after your final sim ride.

Soo driver did you get a class offer? The atp thing is short lived and isn't going to be an issue. Just except the offer and come on....
