HAL does not pay for hotel until you go to sim. Plan on 5 days of Indoc. And then roughly 2 weeks of systems, with a day or two off every 4-5 days or so....I think in roughly 17 days I did 13 class days... So plan on a minimum 3 weeks of getting your own place...
a lot longer than that if he gets assigned to the 717.... you HAVE to have a Hawaii address if assigned to the 717.

Why would an address in Hawaii be required if assigned to the 717?

I did Phase II back in June and got the email a few months back stating my credentials were still up for further review. Just can't get a read on whether this is good or bad. Sort of just stopped wondering for now.....

it took me by surprise too, I honestly don't know why they differentiate between the fleets on that. When I asked, the HR dept told me it's because you'll do all your work in HI. In effect, you can commute on any of the equipment, albeit it's much harder on the 717 due to the nature of their schedules... The bottom line, the HR dept asked me for my HNL address which I already had in place since I planned to have a permanent apartment here anyway... the worse part however is you'll end up having Hawaii Income Tax withheld and if your current state doesn't allow for a deduction for it, you may end up paying income tax in both states...

there's nothing to wonder... you're under consideration until they tell you otherwise.

If by the time the next window opens up (rumored to be in May or June), you are not called, then you'll have to reapply... until then its basically a point system. IF you are above the minimum, but not high enough to rise above people who keep being selected out of Phase II, you'll just hover towards the bottom...

Some people score high enough and with in weeks of their first P 1&2 they're in class... others wait a year, or have to reapply.

Does HAL require seniority resignation from furloughed pilots?

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

I asked the woman who runs our ALPA office if they can update the list to better show the picture of the current seniority list but she said she was told the company refused to continue to provide this data due to privacy reasons... so it's hard to tell exactly how it looks now.

My personal observation is that this is a relatively young airline compared to many... there are A LOT of 40ish year old captains with more than 10 years on the property and quite a few of the new hires from the past 3 years were int their 20's and early 30's..

That's just the reality from what I've seen.
Thanks a bunch to you as well for the info and I appreciate you sharing your personal observations.

I wonder why the company considers the information to be a breach of privacy? I would think they could just release the mandatory retirment numbers without listing names so nobody's privacy is violated that way. Anyhow, thanks for trying!
