How has this thread not blown up yet?
And, when Delta hires a pilot, they have to come from somewhere (and they have to have their ATP)....so there will be hiring at Compass and other places to replace those sucked into Delta. And, there are less guys who are willing to go to China (or the Middle East, Asia, etc.)...they were considering leaving their regional captain job to go to China, but instead they're off to DAL, so now China has to rachet up their pay and schedules, etc. So, more pressure on other US regional pilots to go to China, and less guys available for UAL, USAir, etc.
Did you know that one of the Chinese airlines just advertised hiring into a BUNCH of North American pilot bases???

Do they also have a BMI limit? I think this is one major thing holding of people back from applying.
Plus the time in type thing is another major hold up for regional pilots.
There are plenty of E170 and 190 jobs that I've seen, but for us CRJ200 guys its very slim pickings.
If they got rid of the time in type minimum I think China's problems would be better.
You've got a lot of regional guys in the 6000 to 8000 hr range but nothing in a 777 or 737NG.
I'm just thinking out loud.

i have heard medicals tough and i think all asian carriers bmi for pilots and fas.
crj is the worst airframe, but there have been pic jobs. erj-145 pay up to 15k/mo. + paid upgrade to small airbus after 1 yr...airbus is up to 20k/mo.

Here's some additional info: A) Know someone, B) Be military, C) Be a check airman/IP D) ALL OF THE ABOVE.
300 is not a lot of pilots compared to the available pool. 1000tpic isn't going to get your foot close enough to the door to kick it.

Only valid if Delta hires 300 right now, today. Otherwise, file with empty airline promises at career fares that we've all heard before...
