Busted: www.willflyforfood.com
I got a response today from an employer who's ad was posted yesterday on willflyforfood. They told me the job had been filled months ago, and they still hadn't stopped getting applications because their email was in the text of the ad. When they repost ads like climbto350, without the employer's permission, they apparently only kill the 'to apply click here' button. The employer had asked multiple times to hav the ad removed, and was told it would be pulled, but yet it stays in the rotation. Apparently, they can get caught reposting jobs that don't exist if there's an email in the text.

Not surprised at all. Glad you caught them in the act though. Pilot exploitation!
|
I've always been curious if these adds are up to date... Is climb to 350 the same way?
|
Thank you for this information. I was just about to pay for a monthly subscription but i realize now i am better off saving my money!

Several years ago I was looking at one of those sites (possibly wff, I can't remember now) and saw an ad for a charter job in my state. The contact info for the chief pilot turned out to be the FAA POI for the 135 operation I was working for at the time. She had been with the FAA and not the chief pilot at the advertised company for at least the previous 3 years and probably more like 5.

25 years ago I wrote to an ad in a flying magazine for a list of contacts in the aviation industry - probably a precursor of today's job websites. I sent out over 150 resumes to every corner of the country (including Alaska!). I'd say well over 100 came back marked as 'Undeliverable' by the post office, never heard back from a majority of those left and was well short of the minimums of one of the few that actually responded back. I have no faith in such advertising.
|
You really do get what you pay for...most industries have to pay to advertise.
|
I recently picked up a job off of the willfly website.
Climbto350 is a big offender when it comes to putting jobs on the site that don't exist. |
I never heard a word back from anybody from climbto350. My qualifications were spot on with a couple and others not so much. It was a waste of money for me. I just gave up after subscribing for two years, and have found networking to be my best bet.

willflyforfood.com is legit! I received several interviews and two jobs from their job board when I was on furlough. Can't say the same for the Orange site. WFFF was a big help to me. I know they have the Aloha guys a free account when they were furloughed and gave many other furloughees severely discounted memberships. I can't say enough good things about them. Did you try contacting WFFF about the posting before you got on this forum and started bashing them? Maybe you don't know the whole story?

Employers can log into their account and remove job postings at any time. They do not need to contact us to have this done. We do allow our employers to re-post (refresh) jobs, however we only allow this once a month. We understand that after a job gets buried deeply on the job board that few members will go that far to see it. We also do not want to have a bunch of jobs reposted every day to make our postings look like something they are not. If you have found a job posting that you believe is no longer valid I encourage you to contact us so that we can investigate the posting and have it removed should it no longer be valid. |

Of course you have to come on here and defend the website. ;)Send me a PM and I'll give you details if you want. I will say I did get a job off your website once, and I'm thankful for it, but there is absolutely no doubt that two times employers have told me you were posting jobs without their consent after they told you they had asked you to delete the postings. Don't take it personally, it seems like you all do it. |
It's a business like anything else, and thereby you'll find corruption and exploitation in some corners. Their staff does this for a living, and so it's understandable to some degree. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, though.
I've never paid to subscribe to these sites. Networking and good old-fashioned research are the best way to go. |

To get grouped in with the others would be a failure on our part. |

willflyforfood, not the best name for a website who cares. There is usually good and bad points to all these job websites.ppjn is useful for those across the atlantic but has recently reduced its free content.

I am a Registered Employer with climb to 350 for approx 10 years. I have had good experiences with them and have hired 5-6 pilots through them. They have not ever posted my ad without me initiating it and have made me be more specific with a couple of ads that I wanted to be more generic. In those cases they were working for the subscribers, not the employer. I don't feel it is a waste of time or money.
|
I had some dealings with a guy from Climbto350, what a buffoon. I will never renew my subscription or post another job on that site.
|
ALL of the pay to play job sites exploit pilots (and mechanics)
|
after reading this one can deduce that will fly is a place where you can actually get a job... Climbto350 is essentially a involuntary donation based pilot website.
I wish I would have tried willfly when I was looking for work and not orange. |
