Alaska Hiring News?
Anyone heard any updates on Alaska hiring this year? I was told at the beginning of the year they were almost done for the year but someone recently mentioned they heard there was more announced...

Interviewing during the summer? Isn't that backwards from how AS has always done it?

Anybody got a copy of the new contract?
|
When do you think the application window will be open based on that forecast interview/hiring?
|
I heard the same thing at the Alaska Airmen's Trade Show last weekend. I thought I heard them say the application window would open in July'ish.
FYI, I'm hired, just waiting on a training date (they said probably in the fall). So, hopefully, I'll see a lot of y'all getting hired soon after I start work! :D |
Just heard someone got called for an early June interview with Alaska!
|
Atta boy, Cricket. You'll like it there, especially if you're already an EDF guy. The ANC base is tight.
|
Does anyone have information reguarding the possible June interview sessions and if there is a scheduled July interview session planned?
I've been trying for years to get an interview. I've been to job fairs, meetings with ACPs and Alaska social gatherings. I even have a Check Airmen pulling for me. I don't have any blemishes on my record and I don't think I'm a derelict. Any ideas? |
Your avatar is too scary.

I just hope my all my efforts get noticed at some point. Alaska is one tough nut to crack. I'm off to the shed to grab my sledgehammer. |
Best of luck in your quest. My advice...Keep trying, especially if you have a Check Airman in your corner.

Thanks! Is education one of their heavy points? I know some places (DL) like seeing a 4yr degree finished in... 4yrs with an above average GPA. I was enlisted military and did a 4yr in 6yrs on campus and online with an average GPA.

Any idea when the interview app will open up on Alaska's website for the upcoming hiring?

No...Nothing like DAL. However, make sure you have saved kittens from bears, marched for some cause, been the president of the PTA, HOA, bowling club, been a check airman, volunteered for some committee, born from the chiefs loin and died for your country, you're in....

Heard interviews will happen twice a month for most of the year. They want to work with apps on hand. Opening the the window requires a lot of work sorting and ranking apps. I get the feeling hiring numbers will increase over what was previously planned.
|
Me likes! Lucky for the apps on-hand:o
|
New app window coming in July or August that will purge current apps, hiring another 80 this year.
|
Just an FYI on the latest bid results published this week. Here are the new hire vacancies to filled by around Nov. 1:
ANC 21 LAX 9 PDX 4 SEA 10 Not all domiciles are offered in each class. The next bid should be posted by the end of July. If you get hired as a result of this bid, you should be able to transfer to your desired base by January. Jr. captain by base: ANC 12/02 DOH LAX 4/01 DOH PDX 4/01 DOH SEA 4/01 DOH If forecast hiring come to fruition, upgrade times will like fall under 10 years. Jr. captain has a seniority of 1050 with 12 years of service. #1100 has less than 9 years of service, which we could see on the next bid. #1150 has 8 years of service... |
Roughly 200 next year is the rumor I hear. Anyone else hear that? 800 in the next 5 per a Base Chief?
|
Yeah and 2000 by 2000. That never even came close to happening. Sounds like contract renewal time promises.
|
Lately, what is the average amount of time between interview and class date?
|
Alaska Hiring News?
Interviews early June have been getting late July class dates (from a friend).

Thank you for the info.

Has anybody heard if/when the application window is going to open back up? Are there any interview sessions planned for late summer?
Happy 4th. Thanks |

Sorry for yet another question but I have searched and can not find an answer. Maybe it's a limitation of searching via iPhone but that is all that I have to use on this trip. :-(
What is pay during training? Hotel provided during training? Guessing 3 months for training & IOE. Sound right? Again, thank you! |
Don't know about the current answers to the first two questions.
The third is about right, depending on IP availability and how much IOE you need. There are a couple special airports that are required and you'll have to do one Hawaii trip. That can sometimes drag IOE out a little. However, considering their typical short staffing, they'll try to knock out IOE and get you on the line as quickly as possible. |

No hotel? Ouch. I can't imagine a Seattle crash pad is cheap.
Is SEA available right out of training for new hires? Great company, I am truly surprised that they don't pay for a hotel for new hire training. |
It all depends on the results of the last upgrade bid. The last bid processed had new hire F/O openings in all bases. Most, of course, were in ANC, but if you're the oldest guy in the class, you'll get your choice.
