IASCO, the American contract company for Japan Airlines has finished hiring pilot's for a new class of B747 driver's. Rumor's has it that this US based company has only hired Foreign pilots, mainly from Canada to be based in Hawaii. Isn't there a few thousand American pilot's out of work?

IASCO is kind of an enigma. They keep a relatively low profile and seem to specialize in the Japanese market. I think one of the JALways 747 drivers ( the Captain ) I ran into in Brisbane last year had been on an IASCO contract for over 10 years. He was American, as was the furloughed USAirways F.O. who was on a WAS contract. For what it's worth IASCO contacted me in 1997 for a 5 year contract in Fukouko ( sp? ) on the MD-80 and I'm American. Still not sure how they got my name, but they called me at my house in Taiwan

I'd be really surprised if they only had non-Americans on their payroll, but I could be wrong.

Yes, I understand they have a lot of Americans working for them. The rumor I heard was the last class they just hired to start soon didn't include any US citizens only foreigners. Just thought it was strange for an American company not to hire some of the thousands of out of work pilots here in the USA. It would be like Continental Airlines hiring European pilots and ignoring the guy's here that are qualified and needing work.

fl390 why don't you call or e-mail iasco directly instead of spreading rumors? The rumors you cite in your first and third post on this thread are completly untrue. It would seem better for you to try to get your information directly from the horses mouth.

IASCO is prominently visible on the web at www.iasco.com, and their phone and fax numbers as well as e-mail addresses are easily found there.
