PenAir Hiring
PenAir is having a class 6 April 2016. We have bases in Anchorage AK, Boston MA and Portland OR. This is a SAAB 340 FO position with possible quick upgrade or street Capt depending on experience. Please contact me at [email protected] if interested.

I have heard rumors of a future DEN base, with some EAS routes out there. Any truth in this or when this could happen?

"Pilots is not stupid" |
My bad, I thought this was a public forum to share information. Thought maybe others that had info could chime in besides just him.
|
As for the Why question. gaining 6 more airframes. PDX expansion and yes there is a bid in for EAS out of DEN for 5 destinations that could start late summer early fall.
|
DEN hiring posted on climbto350, so must have picked up the EAS
|
Hi William B. What are your needs for Capts? Is it 6 more Saab 340s or 2000s. Will you be going back into ISP? Can you commute to the positions? Thank you for writing here. Pen Air sounds like a great place.

Next ground school
Bill emailed me to say the 6 April class has been delayed until sometime the end of this month...

It was offered to me; PDX base
|
Uh oh, sometimes not a good sign. Did you quit you're job and start making plans for training? April 6 was two days ago.
|
Maybe I wasn't clear - April 6 class was postponed until the end of April. Still waiting to hear when the next class will be, and no, it didn't cause any trouble on my end as I was given plenty of notice it wasn't happening. It could be trouble now as we're only a couple of weeks away from "the end of the month."
|
I will ask around if I go into the office tomorrow.
|
So, any news!
|
Looks like a new class is starting May 4.

Are you guys looking for ANC street captains?

Darn, cause Ravn is turing into a 10-20 year upgrade. :(
Those 2000's sure look nice on the ramp, they fun to fly? |

Those 2000's sure look nice on the ramp, they fun to fly? They do look fun. I took the upgrade over moving to the 2000. I wish I could fly it. There still may be room to come over as a street captain, but I highly doubt one could hold Anchorage. If you wanted to commute you could probably get a sweet schedule. If I can find someone to work opposite of me I am working on a 9 on 9 off schedule. You would get 30 hours rest between four day trips. |

Not sure this is correct. A friend recently upgraded after approximately two years as an FO.

11/17/09 Not sure where said friend works. I ran into a Corvus captain today and asked him his guess at the upgrade time. He said (and I'm paraphrasing here) "Five years and falling." Definitely not 10-20 years. He said the elimination of the 1900Ds and the absorption of those crews into the Dash 8 stream has slowed down the rate of upgrades, but that affect (sp?) would pass soon. |

Corvus and Hageland share a Master Seniority List. The years, probably five to seven, he flew a sled in Bethel count. And then he had to fly as a FO another two years to upgrade. So total time to upgrade is at least 7 years on that route. I ran into a Corvus captain today and asked him his guess at the upgrade time. BS. Believe what you want but don't spread nonsense. I agree with the previous posters estimate. Upgrade was 6 years before shrinking from 12 to 10 planes now. There is only about 45 captain positions, half of them are lifers, retiring at a rate of one per year. The other half has been there for sth. between 10 and 20 years. In the last 9 months 2 captains (two) left for a Alaska. That and the former CP is all the attrition there was on the captain side. And that's because guys and gals who have put in that much time are not leaving for anything less than a major, they are applying to Alaska, FedEx etc. and are willing to wait years and years for their number to come up. No way upgrade time is coming down unless the company expands, but that is not in sight either, talk is cheap though.

I couldn't get in the up coming Corvus ground school, it's all 1900 transfers. I think Penair is a good opportunity right now.

The last email I got from the CP a couple of weeks ago indicated otherwise, there was also "record low resignations" too.

Are the 2000's coming from NASCAR? There are a couple sitting in SGF.

This may seem like a stupid question, but here goes....
Does Penair allow beards? I've seen quite a few other Alaska operations that rock beards (practical in a way for winter). A friend might be interviewing there and he isn't clean shaven... |

But that wouldn't scare them away from hiring him:D
