Default When to appy

How many hours prior to reaching 1500 is a good time to apply at Horizon? I currently meet all the mins except total time, which is at 1300. It will take me about 4 months to build the remaining 200 hours. I assume now is too soon to apply, but maybe not?

Will Horizon take people at 1450 or 1475, or do they require 1500 prior to training?

They will interview you now at 1300 hours and give you a CJO if selected which I believe is good for 6 months while you get more hours.
They told me I could start training with 1470 hours because the sim will get you to 1500.
My hours are well past 1500 now though and I start training in January.

Thanks Jeff. Do they assign a base and class date with the CJO, or once you're closer to 1470?

I started in June. In ground school they ask you which base you want for IOE. Bidding for your actual base will be done probably just after your sim checkride. I did my checkride end of August and was able to bid in September for my October base. IOE continued into October so that didn’t matter (thankfully, because I got Medford when I was still PDX based). I then successfully bid and was awarded PDX in November.

What's your best guess of time to hold a line?
