There haven't been many upgrades this year due to Covid. We just ran two very small upgrade classes. People in those classes had been with the company around 3.5 to 4 years.

The company feels that there will be a significant amount of attrition in the next 12 month, possibly around 200 pilots (or about 25% of our pilot group). I expect most of these to be junior or mid-level captains moving on to a major. In 2017-2018 we also had a number of well-qualified FO's get hired by a major (Delta scooped up a couple). This should bring down the upgrade time.

Due to company and FAA requirements, you should plan on spending at least 2 years as an FO, unless you have some previous Part 121 experience.

How are reserve rules at QX?

There are no rules on reserve ( except for 12/2/1.5h/30 min callouts and 117 rest rules). Compensation is much better on the q on reserve because you can actually break guarantee with 4.2.

Long call can't be converted to airport reserve.

New rates are being voted on until July 14. If the agreement passes then you’ll know them.

Airport reserve is 8 hrs a day, 30 min callout.
Short call is 12 hrs a day, 2 hr callout (1.5 in MFR, GEG, BOI).
Long call is 24 hrs a day, 12 hr callout.

There's a few other reserve rules, such as:

If you get swapped AM to PM your RAP must end within 3 hours of your original end time on the last day.

Short call must be released at 2100 on your last day if you call crew scheduling and they don't have an assignment for you.

Short call converted to airport reserve is a max of 7 days in a bid period.

Long call converted to short call is a max of 8 days in a bid period.

Etc.

Anyone have any realistic first year FO pay numbers? I know its supposed to go up a hair, but trying to see how rice and beans i'll have to be to make it through year one. Thanks
