You should read this thread if you haven't already.

They did some interviews last week and there are some people on this forum that interviewed so if you do some research you can probably get some info from them. From internal stuff, it is the same format as last time we hired. The sim is tough so make sure you get some time prior to the interview.

There are 2 classes planned in December. December 1 with 9 and December 20th with 12 and classes every month following that based on the large amount of attrition that they are planning.

Interview

Interviewed last week. All went well until they said "we would like you to come back after getting some current 135 time". I have ~6500TT, ~4500ME, ~3000 TJ & TP, 4300PIC most of which is either 121 or 135 exp. Anyway they were all very nice and made it comfortable. The meeting with the CP & ACP and HR went really well. I thought for sure I was heading to the sim...nope!! The were really focused on recency of experience. It's been 10 yrs since I flew 135 0r 121, I've only been flying some corporate Hawker and amphib beaver...so I get it.

It's just a bit frustrating when they hire someone with none of that experience,, but I'm glad for the new guys and girls who get a chance to start their career.

Anyway they said come back so that is what I'm going to do. All in all a nice experience and I believe a good group of people. :D

What is creating the vacancies?

I have a few friends there and they have said that most of the hiring is anticipatory of people moving on to AS or other majors, or FO's going to factionals. It doesn't sound like QX is expanding, they are hiring in lieu of...who knows.

FO's realizing their dream is being slowly crushed with no hope of upgrade anytime within the next 7-10yrs. So, they're bailing.

I live in Seattle but would rather commute with Eagle (ORD) than work a slave schedule with Horizon. As a senior FO (five years) I got some very good time off and still had almost 90 hrs a month.

Junior captain now and back on reserve out of ORD but SEA ORD commute is one of the best commutes in the industry. Long flights but all mainline and 13 to 16 each way per day. Makes life easy..

I would guess the senior Horizon pilots can get a better schedule though.

What was the result of the pay arbitration a few months ago? Results out yet?
