When I say good I mean, living in a PNW, the equip. flown, people @ Horizon, QOL, and did I mention living in the PNW. This is probably the single biggest factor of all. While some may not understand, being in that region is like heaven on earth for a few of us. Of course the upgrade could be a little shorter, but enjoy the ride to the top. People get so flustered as to why someone would "waste" time at a place like Horizon building invaluable SIC time, when they can upgrade in 1.5 yrs on the jet at Skywest and be at Southwest, FedEx et al in record time. You think a "waste," I see it in a completely different perspective.

Rock on Horizon!

How long you been at Horizon

You are EXACTLY what the Angle Lake boys are looking for. "I'll give up any amount of money or work rules for the privilege of living in SEA or PDX!"

You are going to go far in the Air Group.

No I don't think that's really the case. I will say this though, I'd give up a couple, I seriously mean couple, dollars an hour to NOT live or fly out of places like Chicago, Houston, New York, Boston, etc etc.

Come on, there is way more to life than flying airplanes. Living where I want, without having to commute for my job is a pretty darn big factor to me.

PS. I'm enlisted Navy, as a machinist mate. So, believe me when I say it, I know what it's like to work your butt off for very little money. I think I can get by at the horribly low pay at Horizon.

Horizon is the safe way. I haven't interviewed with Alaska, but I know some highly qualified people that did and didn't get hired. If you're at Horizon you can still be working in the Northwest. With that said the last three guys I know that were hired at AS were at Great Lakes(3 yrs or less). The guys I know at horizon are 5 and 6yr FO's. Best of luck.

How is it you're endorsing something you never tried?

He's talking about Horizon, not Alaska. And. . .I'm pretty sure it's Angel Lake. Horizon doesn't hire based on just wanting to live in the PCNW. If they could bid for lower than what they do, we could have bases further east of Denver. But. . .we're a premium carrier instead.

No ****, Sherlock? It ANGLE Lake. And the QX headquarters are right across the street. Its called ANGLE Lake because its shaped like a right angle.

Of course they don't hire just based on that. However, candidates with strong ties to the Pacific NW (family, education, residence) have a definite advantage going in to the interview.

The kids in HR love those ties, then assign new hires to LAX or ANC. Makes sense, doesn't it?

QX has domiciles in LAX & ANC now? Or did I misunderstand your post?
