Another F.U. from management was announced today: Our bonus which makes up about 10% of our pay will now be tied to our on time performance. For all of you non-QX people, out time is aircraft movement not parking brake release at this back water airline. Anytime there is a ramp/ground control delay on push back you're late regardless of how early you closed the doors.

This will be another QOL issue I will be briefing to my students as to why there are other regionals to work for, it saddens me that a once great airline has fallen so far especially given this is a PNW airline and one that PNW pilots like myself wanted to work for.
So far 3 of my students have said Horizon is not their first choice I can only hope I can convince them all.
To the Horizon management reading these threads YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR WAYS! These are highly educated professionals that deserve MORE than minimum wage!!!

Yup. Horizon Air, the only airline that punishes it's pilots for pushing late due to flow, weather, and literally everything else we cannot control.

Really a shame. Hard to see why anyone with options would walk through the front door there.

Soooooo...did anyone get anything good in SAP2?

(For those outside Horizon...SAP stopped working, magically, about 2 mins before opening)

Just saw an Alaska painted CRJ at BGR Bangor, ME.

Seemed a little out of place.

QX is sending in Q400s early for heavy checks because they are practically getting it done for free. They are the oldest Q4s out there with the most cycles. The data Bombardier gets from doing that heavy check at the factory where it is being done is priceless.

Latest: QX is parking 6 Q400s by the end of 2017.
People are leaving so fast they can't keep up with hiring. Only way to run what you can staff is to park planes. Call it for heavy checks, doesn't matter. Ignore the real reason like they will continue to do, bottom line, planes are being parked. The planes were super old anyways and everyone thought they would Not renew the leases.

So LaMar gave the PDP presentation at my school in Bend, OR the other day. He showed off the shiny new jets and Horizon's proud history. At the same time he even subtly remarked that Horizon has the lowest pay in the industry and is desperate for pilots. They want to hold job interviews in a few months and if selected you will get $7500 as a training stipend, then a $10,000 bonus and a 2 year commitment once your ATP mins are met. I have to admit even I was a little excited and there were a lot of doe-eyed students in the room, something like 30-40 people signed up to be contacted about interviews. I'm glad I came here first though. Thanks for the heads up on the situation, it's like a tragic story that I can't put down. I'll be sure to let my classmates know to check this thread out before they make any decisions, maybe if we can keep QX from suckering a bunch of new pilots they will improve things, or just go under. Hope things get better for you guys.
