Certainly not bragging about it....Hard times for Horizon people....It appears that the road ahead is unsure for Horizon....No surprise that waiving ten grand at people is not working....a basket full of empty promises

I just read the new QuickTake that in Feb 2017 Horizon will be going to PBS bidding AND a 4 week bidding cycle which increases min guarantee to 70 hours for line holders? Can a current Horizon pilot comment on the union company stance on these changes? This seems like something the union would have negotiated and shouldn't be a surprise?

PBS was part of our new concessionary contract. We start 4 week bids in Feb (I don't know why our union was okay with it, probably cause it doesn't really matter). The min guarantee hasn't changed. PBS doesn't activate until the first revenue flight of the jet, May 1st.

I just read in the USA Today, Horizon is going to ABQ. Nice overnight!

The company will work hard to find a cheap hotel far away from civilization, don't worry.

Our Missoula overnight used to be great downtown, but now they've got us in some white trash laden dump where you have to take a 5-10 minute van ride to get to the closest food source.

5 minute van ride?!?
Just walk, it would do you good.

QX hotels tend to be a little rapey so you might not want to go alone.

Look at the MSO airport on Google Maps for a general idea of where we stay. Where would you suggest we walk, with no sidewalks, from there in the middle of winter?

well, QX its telling this to the new applicants. this is true? can any one confirm this...

At this time we are hiring into the Q400. We will eventually be hiring directly into our new jets but at this time it is just the current Pilots transitioning over. We do anticipate this to change at some point this year but it is hard to pin point exactly when at this time. We have not had our first delivery of the ERJ yet. As far as preference into the ERJ, it is first come, first serve and not dependent on previous flying.

Although we don’t technically have “flow” with Alaska we have something better! It is a guaranteed interview with Alaska. All Horizon Pilots (who meet the minimum requirement) are guaranteed an interview with Alaska when they choose to exercise it. We recommend you are strategic and choose to do so when you have hours and are best prepared for the process. We anticipate having something like this with Virgin as well in the coming months.

That's funny. Even taking into account that there's almost certainly some BS content in what the other carriers advertising on this site are claiming, does Horizon actually believe that a low/average signing bonus plus an interview with a 73-only operator at or near the bottom of the industry pay structure is going to make them competitive?
