Also, seriously.....a friendly reminder......

Most if not everyone on this site, scratched, clawed, fought, endured "the lost decade", instructed, pulled banners, flew skydivers, flew freight in questionable aircraft, got furloughed 1,2, even 3 times. Some got shot at to become/remain a professional airline pilot.

To come onto a professional pilot site and ask how to "skip the line" as some see it......will not result in an optimal outcome. It won't be a popular topic in the cockpit for you.

YMMV

Funny thing is, if he actually spent the last year "working" on this career, he'd almost be there.

I don't consider a guy paying $100k and waiting 4 years to get on a 190 at JetBlue "skipping the line." I consider him an idiot.

It's $150k. And you're right.

I'm sure you all know how much it costs to go through flight school. I do as well because I am currently paying for it. You cant fault people for trying to use the opportunity provided to them

There's an FA that is in the program. Lets just say that I really hope to never fly with her again, on either side.

How is JetBlue charging potential pilots $150k "providing an opportunity." You'll have the same option to be at JetBlue in 4 years or less for much less than that.

It's Private through ATP, plus housing and some food. It's probably pretty close to 150k, if you're not able to shop around flight schools.

Well that's actually part of the problem. These guys are guaranteed a job at JetBlue. They'll be taking spots from guys with real experience.

Not even close. Let me break this down for you:

Since I've got 150k burning a hole in my pocket how about I try this?

Go to ATP and drop 66k on the fast track. It takes 9 months from 0 time to MEI. Let's add 25k, (and I think that's excessive) for housing, food, examiner fees, misc. items, etc. so I'm at 91 k all in. 59k savings right off the bat.

I'm at a busy location, so I get 100 hours a month instructing. So after 21 months I've got 1500 hours and go to a regional.

3 months for Indoc and training has me at 24 months. At 75 hours a month, in 14 months I have another 1000 hours. Now I'm at 2500 hours at 38 months time.

I can now get hired at JetBlue off the street 10 months earlier, and 59k richer. That doesn't even count the extra 80-100k I made in salary for instructing and being a regional FO.

The above example also doesn't consider that you could go somewhere cheaper than ATP and get those same ratings for about 50k instead of 66k. Another substantial savings.
