WEST PALM BEACH -- A plane bound for New York returned safely to the Palm Beach International Airport shortly after takeoff on Sunday after losing a piece of its engine cover, the airport and airline said.
JetBlue Flight 830 took off at about 6 a.m., and the pilot radioed the airport that he had felt the plane vibrate and he was returning, airport spokeswoman Lisa De La Rionda said.
The Airbus A320 was headed for John F. Kennedy International Airport and was carrying 150 passengers and six crew members, JetBlue spokeswoman Jenny Dervin said. The flight lasted about 18 minutes, she said.
JetBlue used another plane to take the passengers to New York. The flight took off again at about 10:30 a.m. and landed in New York at about 1 p.m.
Each customer will receive a JetBlue voucher equal to the cost of the round-trip for the inconvenience, Dervin said.

A little perspective that you probably remember.
I recall seeing a picture, in flight, of an engine that lost it's cowling on an A-320 quite sometime ago. I cannot recall the airline, but I don't think it was JetBlue.

It was in '03 or '04; a Ryan Int'l A320 operating for AirTran out of ATL to the west coast. Uneventful landing.
