I think that it is important to see if you will work well with others while in the interview, to include the lowly flight attendent or ground personnel. What I can tell by comments like these, is that you would not play well with others, making for an ineffiecient team environment, and it may be that type of high and mighty, priviledged attitude that the B6 interviewers are trying to weed out. Just a thought.

VT: You miss the point entirely. I guess that is what a little too much blue koolaid will do to you.

They want to see your reaction, and the high and mighty thing probably won't go over well. It isn't as if the FA or "bag thrower" is actually making the hire decision, but talking down to them like they don't even deserve to be speaking to you, would most certainly make the decision easier for the people who are.

Where did I mention I talk down to anyone? I guess I'm just old fashioned, you know interview with pilots after successfully completing a sim check out. Do you fly 121? The days of all the "feel good interaction" are over. 9/11 took care of that.

Now if your definition of team is folding seat belts and throwing away barf bags, then your right I'm the Barry Bonds of aviation.

P.S. I have lots of FA friends who we hang out with OUTSIDE of work.

Their interview is great; they treat you very well.

But, they have F/As actually interviewing pilots, which is kind of silly.

The F/A who greeted me for the i/v spilled a picture of water all over me. I got activated during phase II and found a better job. It was the weirdest interview I'd ever been through. Anyone going there better do the prep. I gave them what they wanted but felt very "Prozac-ish". Jim Jones, Neeleman, himself showed up afterwards. The whole thing had that kool-aid / snake-handling feel to it. No offense to the JB guys. Just want to let you know to prepare well and take plenty prozac.

Man, you guys are sensititve about this! All I am saying is that I believe that it goes along with the old interview addage of, "can I get along with this guy on a four day trip". The two pilots are not the only ones who have to work together as part of the crew during a trip, and having the input of a source outside of the cockpit for the interview may be good. It isn't as if the FA is going to be testing your Jepp knowledge or Pilot skill, they are simply going to give input as to whether or not they think that you would work well with the ENTIRE crew. Why is that so bad?

Why would it make you feel offended, unless you are guilty of having short man-itis, or super captain-atosis, to begin with? It wouldn't offend you unless you had a superiority complex to begin with. As far as I can tell, the B6 interview is all about the touchy feely, can we get along stuff anyway, so why wouldn't it make sense to include all of the crew for input? Sorry, but I think that it is a good idea. (actually, I'm not sorry)

We all aren't but you sure are!!! :D Look at your syndrome calling. That is funny! We only pointed out some other thoughts. You are stuck on kumbya :D :D Charge away my friend. I got your valid point, but there are others.

VTcharter 04-03-2007 02:20 PM

I understand that there are other valid points, and that my statements are just my opinion. The reason that I am defending my opinion is because I was told that I "don't get it", and I believe that I do. I am simply trying to clarify my point so that others can see where I am coming from, and maybe consider my opinion as I will consider others. Nobody has to agree with me, I am just looking to be understood. I don't agree with the other opinions, but I understand their concept.

I am also not advocating that B6 is wrong or right, I simply understand what they are trying to accomplish by this procedure, and was trying to point it out to others. No hard feelings toward anybody, just trying to get another point across.

Maybe you need a dog.

It doesn't take a whole lot of genius to figure out what jB is trying to do, I don't think too many people don't understand what jB is trying to accomplish. We understand, and we disagree with the need to do so. You apparently agree with the concept and that is fine too.

Each to their own.

Okay, HOKIE...but turnabout is fair play. Based on your reasoning, Pilots should be interviewing F/As, too. Because, they ALL have to work together.

Bad info guys. There is a panel interview and one FA sitting in. Whats the problem?

Well let's think about it.

To get the pilot job you are required to have:

--Commercial/ATP License w/Multi-engine rating

--Flight Time experience to above ratings

--Ability to demonstrate above flight time w/ratins in the Simulator for the interviewto FAA ATP Standards

And in addition most airlines also require and consider favorably:

--University Degree

--Prior military experience

--Prior flying experience (part 135/121)

Overall about a 10 year investment to just be qualified for the interview.

----------------------------->>And now what is required to be a F/A?

--Ability to read, write, speak English

--Ability to smile and toss peanuts at monkies

In other words: No prior experience, ratings, training.

So you have someone with perhaps a High School Education who reads an ad in the paper before deciding on the career making interview decisions on someone with multiple ratings, experience and a 10 year investment.

Got a problem with that????
