jetBlue rape lawsuit, filed 3/18/19

Two male JetBlue pilots have been accused of drugging three female crew members and raping two of them during a layover in Puerto Rico.

The lawsuit, filed in the Eastern District of New York against the pilots and the airline, alleges that the three female crew members checked into the InterContinental Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on or about May 9 - after which they "arrived at the beach, found some chairs and set up camp," when they noticed two men - pilots Dan Watson and Eric Johnson. The pilots allegedly handed the women an open beer from a lunch bag, which they shared, and now say was laced with a drug.

Amazing how the accused's names are now public record -- but the accusers are allowed anonymity.

Agreed, it’s messed up.

Look up the UAL pilot that was recently cleared of exposing himself at the DIA Westin hotel.

Pretty much EVERY article online has his mugshot posted at the top of the story talking about the charges being dropped.

Moral of the story: slam click or go cargo. After reading the lawsuit, I don't see what the CA did wrong.

Most rape shield laws in the United States were passed in the 1970s and 1980s. New York’s laws came into effect in 1975. Now, four decades later, the public’s understanding of sexuality has changed. Today, the public has a broader view of whether someone should be judged for their sexual history. Many jurors would not judge a complainant for having prior consensual sexual relationships. Certainly, the average juror today would have heard the phrase “no means no” and have a basic understanding of the concept of consent.

Maybe we could have some kind of Defendant’s shield law.

You know, so their lives aren’t ruined and they aren’t professionally and personally destroyed without having actually been convicted of a crime.

Innocent until proven guilty, and all that...

I hope he’s suing the crap out of everyone involved.

Rather tacky and insensitive to the case at hand, dont you think? Not many find rape to be a laughing matter.

Rape (or alleged rape in this case) is certainly not a laughing matter. Once more facts come out I'll put it back up...or not, depending on what all comes out.

So the symptoms listed (vomiting, nausea, headache) are claimed to be a reaction from drugs (couldn’t possibly be a hangover!). They were tested for drugs, but then it never actually lists the test results for drugs in the lawsuit.

I’m really glad I fly cargo now. It was fun doing things like microbrewery tours and so on with the FAs back in my pax days, but there’s absolutely no way I would do that anymore. You are now guilty until proven innocent, and as we’ve seen in several other cases (Alaska being the most recent), there are unfortunately some women that are very unscrupulous and will make false accusations.
