Cool thanks for the info. You're in April interview right?

Im thinking October class will be on the 9th and 23rd if they do the usual "class every 2 weeks" flow.

April, yes.

Hi all,

My Current situation has me away from home 8-15 days a month, flying large cabin (Global and Gulfstreams) around the world for a large fortune 100 flight department. Benefits are very good, current pay is in the mid-100K range with a 15-18% bonus each year, along with stock options. Why considering the change I am sure some will ask

Beers on me if and when we were to meet.

Large cabin fortune 100 international ... mid 100k base?! That’s about 100k too low for cabin size and type of flying. Where are you located?

Exactly what I was thinking. For current market, that’s way underpaid unless you’re an FO who has been there less than 2-3 years and they paid for your type.

Hi all,

I have a class date with JB and have been speaking to a few on property with different takes (just happy not to be at a regional, doomsday worst airline ever and the typical "I fly the bare min and go home") and I am trying to seek out as close to realistic information as possible about the first year or 2 at JetBlue.

Short answer, I want control over my schedule, maximize time with my family and I am positive pay will not catch up to what one can earn at a 121 carrier.

My questions, and again, just realistic as possible please:

I understand training pay is $2000/m w/ $26 a day (plan on 6-8 weeks) - This is rough but can make it work

How long is reserve out of BOS/JFK for the 190 and 320?

Are you able to exceeded guarantee on either of those equipment types while on reserve?

Can one credit in the 95-100 hour range first year, if not, what can be the expected credit once off reserve?

What seems to be the average gross year one for someone on the 190 or 320?

What is the upgrade times for BOS190, BOS320, JFK190, JFK320?

I know the new reserve rules were just put into place, but how easy is it to change your schedule and or swap/drop trips?

Overall, do you recommend coming to JetBlue? (I have apps out to all legacys, however, JetBlue is currently my only offer)

Thanks a lot guys, I know its just a forum and it's difficult to cipher through factual information on here, but I appreciate your answers and they will help with a career decision. Beers on me if and when we were to meet.

I made the switch 10 years ago. I hated the airlines for the first year or 2. But once I got seniority and figured it all out I loved it. The control you have and the guys you fly with will be great here. Plus you can out earn yourself right now in Biz Av in 2 yrs it sounds like. You will make twice as much as you make now in 5-7 years. A little word of advice. Never look at the first year compensation package, look at the last. You are not “sacrificing” $50k by coming to an airline. You are sacrificing you last year salary (as you look toward retirement) of $300-400k by not coming to an airlines.

Once I saw GE flight department go netjets a lost all faith in corporate.

PS.... do your very best not to commute. It makes a great job good and a good job bad.

Hence the career change.

Leave and never look back. I was talking with the wife the other day how much it would take for me to take a corporate job in my home town (middle of country, has Fortune 500 companies with planes). A salary of 500k wasn’t even worth it to give up my flexibility, “stability” (if possible at an airline), retirement etc.

Might be of interest for new hires. Looks like a good time to get on, significant bump in hiring:

Just need to add the rest of '18/'19 to make it more consistent, and it's a bit flatter. But I will say we are on course to have decent hiring this year, and dare I say the next few.

Crap, I forgot to add those. I’ll update later. Sorry folks
