Greatest foundational quote for the stock market. Benjamin Graham in the Intelligent Investor, published 80 some odd years ago.

In the short term, the market is a voting machine. In the long run, the market is a weighing machine.

Short term, the market is everyone voting with their feet, stampeding this way and that, with the news of the day or the sentiment. They move for some reason or no reason.

Long run, the market weighs the valuation of a stock, what is that company worth.

Scott Lawrence also was spewing off the latest info in a pocket session on our payroll while at the same time Delta HR was processing his paperwork. Take anything that guy has said in the last few months with a grain of salt.
