Mergers are a win for both contracts and basing.

Find a TWA guy who wishes he wasn’t at American now.

To a lesser degree, I don’t think most of the Virgin group was happy to merge with Alaska. But I do agree with his overall premise.

Not when they murder seniority movement for decades, and not when both groups have below average CBA's, with one of them near the very bottom.

This merger is a win for most NK pilots above 60% seniority, and senior B6 pilots who will now have more bases to chose from. If you are below 40% or so at B6 this merger is a very, very raw deal.

Can you elaborate more on this?

if you are below 50% here at b6 your hire date will get dwarfed by the hire date of the same seniority at NK. Same seniority percentage as me was hired 2/3 years after me.

True, but I believe your overall seniority should go up slightly. At least mine did on those projected SLI lists. The merger is beneficial to JB as well as Spirit. Make no mistake about that. To think we’re better off standing alone is delusional.

Horrific representation by alpa, letting their own dues-paying TWA pilots get slaughtered in the integration as alpa leaders tried to woo APA. Massively corrupt.

Thats assuming the SLI will go 100% of Relative which is hardly in the cards, just as 100% DOH isn’t either. SLI isn’t gonna be nearly as simplistic unless B6ALPA literally lies down on the railroad tracks. There will be “formulas” and “slottings” galore in the end to where no seniority “band” on either side gets a windfall nor gets equally hosed.

Sure. All NK pilots should see an immediate improvement in their pay/QOL as B6s contract brings them up. This is a small consolation to the bottom 30% of the list who now faces a decades long wait for upgrade.

If you aren't already in the top 40% or so at B6 all you get is a probably worse CBA as NK pilots will vote for even less than B6 pilots will, and a now even more stagnant seniority list. You also get the bonus of slinging gear for guys hired years after you as a cherry on top.

Almost all JB pilots will see a RS increase, thus, theoretically, their QOL should improve. Also, ALL pilots will have the options to choose different bases they aren't currently able to bid, not just senior pilots. People need to stop being so hung up on DOH and look at how their RS looks post SLI.

That won't happen of course, so JB pilots will be pi$$ed because they see NK pilots hired after them with better seniority numbers and NK pilots will be pi$$ed because a vast majority of them will lose RS.

Therefore both pilot groups will be pi$$ed and thus provides for the perfect merger.
