Ok the one thing I don't get. Where would this amazing career progression come from. I hear this a lot and everyone is like well I'm out. Now I will grant you it would make us a bigger carrier and more bases and a larger order book. However why would you move up faster? We would have to merge the seniority list with a lot of young guys that were captains pretty fast. Guys in my seniority range were probably going to get hit hard and if your jr you just watched a bunch of guys get thrown on top of you. If you don't think we can grow ourselves or fix the operation why in the world would be taking on a complex merger be a good thing?
We are in replacement mode because we are trying to get rid of a fleet, I think I saw somewhere the 321\320s are pushed back to get the 220s here. We won't even talk about the engine issues. We all knew most of this was coming, and I don't blame a single person for going. I just think some of the talking points are off. (Not aimed at you just the quote) (I wanted the merger to happen) I just don't see the failure of the merger to be like ok that does it I'm out, there are plenty of other valid reasons. |

Plus it's getting harder for pilots to commute now that we're dropping domestic blue cities in favor of Latin America and the Caribbean. |

Jetblue will offer you Captain in about five years, and you can have your pick from any base in the country as long as it is Boston or NYC.

I’ll grant you the base issue but what would the upgrade be with the merger?

JetBlue upgrade for the non-northeast bases is around 10 years. I'm guessing upgrade in most Spirit cities (LAS, ORD, DTW, IAH, DFW, MCO, FLL...) would not be nearly as high as it would be at JetBlue alone.
Then you’ll be pulling gear for about 6 more after that. When you finally get in the left seat you’ll be on short call flying all the redeye turns you can handle because that’s about all that’s in open time. |

Don't be surprised if PS commuting comes back for summer, why? Because it will probably benefit the company enough to be more reliable while they run hot through the summer, or not for pilots since we are a lot more responsible. It's business. The CBA is all we got, hold them to that. Anything more from the company is just fluff. Thanks and move on. Edit: I will say though they could've given a more concrete decision on PS commuting before bidding closed for Feb. The first concrete email I see about ending PS commuting was on Jan 12th. Too late to bid differently. |

Truly, I don't know why anyone would be surprised or angry by this, especially when everytime the company extended it, they always say it's not the norm. What were you(not you payne) expecting the company to do eventually? It's not in our CBA, it doesn't benefit them enough anymore to justify continuing it. When it comes to cost, the company does what benefits the business, nothing more.

I don’t expect PS commuting at all, I was just trying to make a funny tagging onto Boomer’s post about commuting getting harder now that we’re dropping cities and routes.
