We still have another ~30 more FO’s coming to BOS 220 at some point by November as of PVBM.

Not fully sure where they’re coming from, what their effective date was, or when they’re scheduled to actually be in BOS on the 220… but I guess we shall see.

The company opened up the employee Gateway program a few weeks ago and will open the family flex Gateway program in about 3 weeks. They have dozens of current pilots in the Gateway bathtub qualified for a training date as we speak. So I assume they'll call many of them for training soon.

70 per the call…bid supposedly opens tomorrow

based on the cluster $&@% training has been on that plane from the stories I’ve heard from some instructors and CKA…I wouldn’t want anything to do with it right now.

Meh….it’ll be fine. They hired a handful more CKAs and not everyone going to FLL needs to go to the schoolhouse.

Who’s bidding it?
Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t this new base remove a seat lock?

Yes it does, for the purposes of bidding a position in this new base.

I dont think this counts as a new base

Base: The location a Pilot is assigned and where their Pairings begin and end, except as

provided in this Agreement.

S. Opening a New Base
The Company may elect to open a new Base at any time. The Company shall give at least
a thirty (30) day notice prior to the opening of the new Base. All Freezes shall be
considered lifted for the purposes of being awarded a position in the new Base for a
period of six (6) months immediately after the new Base opens.

benzoate 05-20-2026 09:45 AM

This does not count as a new base.

Real question is, does it count as growth?

EWR was a new location for trips to start/end, SJU was a new location for trips to start/end. FLL is not a new location for trips to start/end. Adding equipment to a base does not make it new. At least in my interpretation

Apparently neither does the Union.

Reading the definitions of "Base", "Position", and "Status" in Article 2:

It's a plausible reading of the contract to say that what's happening is new Positions being added to an already existing Base.

Now that’s funny stuff. They are shrinking the other 2 220 bases to embark on the next adventure.

I get it. Doesn’t affect me anyway. Does not mean I have to agree with it, but I’m just a line Pilot. I don’t make those decisions.

If current FLL FO’s bid 220 CA this could end up being a really interesting bid for the company. We could become
very overstaffed in the CA seat on the 220 in BOS and JFK.

This bid is likely to create quite a few bases with discrepancies between CA/FO seats again. Something they just finally remedied by finishing the training from the displacement.

August annual (displacement) bid will be the cleanup for this mess. I guess by running the Supp first they can mitigate some of the displacements that would have to happen.

benzoate 05-21-2026 12:56 AM

It was also noted the annual bid could contain additional openings. I believe the question was if you were awarded something in the supplemental could you then bid something different in the annual and it’s was clarified that you could.

JW mentioned that in the call. He said they are “hoping” (translation: “praying”) current 220 crews will bid into FLL.

Anyone with their finger on the pulse in FLL have guesses for how senior this 220 base is going to go?

Very senior at the top and very junior at the bottom. In the middle it will be somewhat senior to somewhat junior.

Or how much it’s going to dilute the seniority in JFK/BOS.

It will dilute some at the top, middle and bottom in both seats.

more from JFK I would think than BOS. Off the bottom from Boston and everywhere from JFK. Just a higher commuted to base
