Anybody got the scoop on how many 220 crews they will need initially in FLL ? And what is the rollout schedule for it ?

Rumor is the base will consist of 69 pilots. Bidding FLL 220 comes with some stipulations though. You must wear your blazer all year round, you will have to drink cafecito, you must bring the crew una caja de pastelitos (guayaba y queso), you must play dominoes (they have to be double nines), you're gonna have to marry a colombian so she can get her papers (she will be costeña), you must hang a set of (select any latino country) miniature boxing gloves from you rearview mirror, and you will be given a pet aligator.

You get the lift award for most racial stereotypes in a single paragraph.

Two more LIFT awards and I can get that air fryer I've always wanted.

You can also name it whatever career stagnation is in Spanish.

Back in my day...

jstyle13 07-05-2024 12:48 PM

Will be interested to see if they reduce the 320 by the same amount of 220 seats they add in the base. Imagine they will reduce quite a few and shift them to SJU. Not expecting much growth in FLL next year even with the 220 coming in.

Just a heads up in our bid window on PVBM (bidding software) FLL220 isn't showing uup and SJU 320 is already up. Maybe they won't open FLL220? One more day and we'll find out...

Looks like we know today.

Postponed until a supplemental. Bummer.

Even the idea of it opening in the supplemental sounds like a long shot. "Such as the potential of opening FLL A220" That doesn't convince me it wil happen any time soon. Sometimes I day dream of past rumors of us being bought by a legacy carrier then I wake up somewhere over the Atlantic on a redeye down to the Dominican Republic. Oh well.

that statement should be the definition of a blue jet pilot if I’ve ever heard one….

Its not that minds have changed, its all about the number of A220 aircraft we have and expect to have by a hypothetical system bid effective date. JFK was announced once the company reached 30 A220’s. Base openings are closely related to equipment inventory and seeing as how the company only has 34 A220’s on property it’s safe to say we will need to approach the 60 count threshold before another A220 base opening will be announced and attached to an annual system bid or supplemental. To keep the guessing to a minimum just keep tabs on our A220 deliveries and when they approach 60 I would bet on an announcement. Increments of 30 aircraft or close to that number is the beginning number of the base equation.

We should be surpassing 60 220s in 2025 from what I recall recently which would track with a supplemental this fall or winter.

Time to buy Breeze to get more A220s.... Dave would be pleased and he would start formulating his next airline....

After 2 years, is FLL 220 crew base still a myth?

Profitability is a myth, the 220 base in FLL is probably coming next year if they want to fill out fll.

benzoate 05-14-2026 09:02 AM

Lum stated in recurrent it’s not coming this year.

When did he say this because it's 180 out from everything that's been said recently.

That last pocket session JW seemed a lot more wishy washy than I would have imagined based on the rumors.

Within the past week is what I was told. I’m not surprised though. Jetblue hasn’t quite figured out how much support FLL is giving them according to the last management pocket session.

I wouldn't say that's how it sounded. It seems they want to but has to balance the gates with other airlines requests too, and not just give JB all the gates. People love to sue.

PVBM is now showing FLL220 CA/FO as an option. Rumor is around 50 crews.

A lot of blogs seem to think JB is gate squatting and will get thrown out of NK gates when another airline will pay more.

Probably largely accurate.

Wingtip220 05-15-2026 09:07 AM

An airline can’t gate squat. BCAD owns those gates and we are in negotiations with BCAD as we speak. BCAD also wanted 14 million for a lounge that we want in T3. Management turned that offer down. The lounge would be located in proximity to bokampers restaurant. Bokampers would be reduced in size by half and additional square footage for the lounge would be taken from the existing crew room. So additional gate space and a lounge are all in negations currently with BCAD. From what I understand BCAD likes blue’s expansion plans and the agreement will be finalized soon.
