I was actually watching that live. Not sure the issue, but I suspect some port of pressurization problem?

BP rumor was a bag came loose in the cargo compartment on rotation, made a big bang sound, crew diverted to FLL out of an abundance of caution.

Interesting. I would think SJU would be an even more abundance of caution, or even a return to AUA...

Something isn't adding up. If there's cause for immediate concern then I'm dropping back into AUA. It's not some backwood 3rd world airport. Something else must have happened to force them to FLL and only go to 12k.

I never saw it go above 10k, but yeah. That was after about half a dozen orbits right after departure.

been a while since I’ve been a commuter, but I guess…

You can get to a lot of places these days from San Juan though.

Some news reporting an engine failure after takeoff. Makes the 3+ hr 'divert' to FLL, on one engine, passing how many other suitable Caribbean diversion fields, a little hard to square. Must be more to the story...
