Thanks for clarifying, FlyTank. Sounds like a good plan.

I've already made the decisiont to go Airtran. Getting ready to fill out the online app and had a question about the Captain time.

Anyone know if they use any special conversions for military? Haven't seen anything on their website or any of the forums or gouge.

I'm retired Navy with plenty of PIC time in P-3 and T-34. Currently at American Eagle and ready to move on after getting my feet wet at a Regional.

thanks

I guess their impression of PIC is when your signature is on the a/c log. Will try to find out exactly and post when I get a chance.

when I met the Airtran guys at a job fair, they said they did not want you to add any conversion factor to your military time. When I filled out my online app, I listed "PIC" time as all time I had signed as the aircraft commander for the flight (whether solo or in a crew plane), and I listed "captain" time as all PIC time on a crew plane only.

Oops, forgot to mention that it appears that they give it a more thorough look when you submit a paper resume by having someone on the "inside" walk it in or by handing it out yourself at one of those Air, Inc job fairs. This procedure appears to yield better results than filling the online app. This is the feedback I'm getting from the recent new hires, so, if at all possible try to attend one of these Air, Inc fairs or have someone you know that already works here submit it to the CP or Pilot recruitment in ATL. For you guy's 411, the pilot recruitment department is now in ATL, having relocated from MCO.

Thanks Rocket, I wouldn't have put the conversion unless I knew they wanted it and your explanation for the Captain entry sounds right, much thanks.

Flytank, I'll be at the Airinc conference the end of this month and hopefully see you guys in a few months.

Thanks again for the info.

Thank you!

I was hired by both Blue and AirTran. Decided on AirTran for the reasons of pay and commuting location. But also, I wanted a collective bargaining agreement; Blue has a pilot contract but you become "at will" at the 5 year mark. I didn't like that....

They both seemed to have pilots that liked working there; everyone was positive at both carriers. I considered myself lucky to be in that situation.

I've been with AirTran for 8.5 years. Everything said about working here is true. Quick upgrade, new acft, etc.

What no one talks about is the sh!tty labor/management relationship. Most of the people who have posted on this thread are obviously newhires who haven't been here long enough to educate themselves.

We have been in contract negotiations for years with ZERO progress. The company just posed it's HIGHEST QUARTERLY REVENUE EVER! Our management team pays themselves more than any top execs at ANY US AIRLINE, including Southwest who earned aprox 10X what we did last quarter.

Every company contract proposal has been concessionary. The most recent update indicates that they are looking for more in the way of concessions from our already weak Scope section as well as reduced retirement benefits.

This management group shows nothing but contempt and total disrespect for it's employees. We are viewed as nothing more than a necessary evil.

You new guys need to quit drinking the cool aid they're serving up in groundschool and visit www.npa-atl.org and www.airtranpilots.org for the real scoop.

How is this going to effect new-hires at Airtran:

AirTran said third-quarter revenue per available seat mile will come in below expectations and that it will curtail its own planned capacity growth in 2007 and 2008, taking fewer than the 19 Boeing 737-700 jets it had scheduled. The company didn't quantify the decrease in aircraft deliveries.

I guess jetBlue isn't the only one bringing it back a notch

Chewie135,
