You will travel to your starting location on day 0, and it’s very rare to do back to backs unless you’re changing your schedule around.
Heres an example line: Sat LAX 18:50 SYD 9:00 Mon SYD 10:00 HKG 19:25 Wed HKG 2:05 LAX 15:00 Thu LAX 16:30 SYD 6:40 Sat SYD 9:10 SIN 17:00 Sat SIN 19:25 HKG 23:30 Mon HKG 2:40 LAX 15:35 Tue LAX 23:55 CVG 4:00 Wed CVG 10:00 LAX 14:30 Thu LAX 23:55 CVG 4:00 Fri CVG 10:00 LAX 14:30 How do you manage the timezones -- do you just try to stay on your home time for the whole trip? |

Dear God. I got jetlag just reading that. Do you actually do that much long-haul in a.2 week period? Respect to you all... I'd probably pass out from exhaustion by Day 10!

When it’s slow, we get lots of time to enjoy and explore layover cities and just make guarantee. As for the jetlag .. double crew on most of that, 3-man crew on the shorter stuff, so you’re dozing for dollars a third to a half of each cruise segment. You get used to it pretty quick. I’ve been more fatigued flying five regional legs a day through LAX. A few sadistic souls try and stay on their home time zone, most just sleep when they can and it works out fine. |

Otherwise circadian rhythm is just an academic theory after around day four or five, but being rested never felt like a problem. Weren’t able to get to sleep in the 10h prior to show? Take the first break. If my leg I preferred a middle or last break. On occasion I’d get stuck on a split sleep schedule when I got home; 4h nap in the afternoon, waking up at 3am overnight. Those could be tough to manage. |

That’s not even that bad as far as jet lag. It’s just the Pacific circle. Try CVG-LEJ-DEL-HKG-ANC-CVG twice in a month and you’ll quickly realize time is irrelevant.

Any idea when the hiring window will open again?
|
hiring window for a small number probably in the fall.
Sleep when you are tired... eat when you are hungry... fly when they tell you to.... that works pretty well for a strategy.... last month in 8 days... I did DTW-MIA-ANC-CVG-LEJ-BAH-PVG-ICN-HFE-ANC-LAX-then home..... note: req slightly reduced show times three times... oh and there was a 1/7 in there somewhere...lol |
