With one of the fastest upgrades possible in a 747, at Kalitta (disclaimer: until now), you would have a chance at PIC time on a type of aircraft that would open many doors to very high paying expat contracts around the world. Something to think about. 2 months of hotel costs should not stop you from that.
Now, if it is the lifestyle that you're questioning, and other things, then, yeah don't leave a good job right now.
Anyhow, I don't know much about Kalitta, but thought I'd chime in on the potential opportunities you would be gaining by going there. I had previously considered going there when things were looking pretty unstable at my current carrier.
Good luck!

I thought about all that. The life style I think I'd be able to cope with. 17 on straight, to me sounds better than 4 on 3 off. That still equals about 17-19 on during the month at my level. Besides, you don't have to worry about figuring your vacation Also, boxes don't b!tch.
What hotel do most of the guys in training use and what's the average cost?

um wow so a minute ago you didn't want to go to Kalitta because you had to pay for a hotel, now it's ok because you found someone there. A free bed is all it took? What about the job, the company??

Never said I didn't want to go. I said I'd have to think about it. Is there a problem with needing to think about it?

Don't come here! Stay domestic pax. I can already tell, you would be one of the few that would be complaining all the time and a real pain in the a$$ to fly with for 17 days. Nothing is worse than being stuck with a dude that pi$$es and moans all month!

What ever dude. You have no f*k'n clue where I've been or where I've come from. I've spent many a month living in tent city in PSAB so 17 days is a piece of cake.

Come over to the airplane with FE tombstones, you will like it better than one with an FE. Don't listen to the two high opinionated and outdated pieces of equipment. If you don't like you can quit, no training contract hence the pay your own way for a bit.

When you need something and you can't afford it, you usually go into debt to get it. Like your college degree or that type rating for Southwest. It's called an investment. If having to pay for a hotel matters more to you than the fact that you'll be at Kalitta, then you obviously shouldn't be there. I still think you don't get it based on your responses to me and others.
