Personally....I think if you show up to recurrent prepared....you won't have issues. On any given day though.... its possible. There have been some failures yes.... have there been any unjust failures, that is the real question and I would suggest probably not. However, as has been said before....all of the training at K4 requires big boy pants.

Very accurate statement. One of the biggest problems I see is perception of the pilot. Instructors give the sim session, identify areas of weakness, and fix those areas. This results in a pilot who is better prepared in the event of an abnormality online. What I see happen occasionally is a pilot comes in and has a weakness identified during the MV. They receive retraining on this non PRIA reporting event. However, due to any number of reasons, said pilot is so shaken up by the experience that he/she does not perform up to standards on the Loft. This then results in a PRIA reportable event. Moral of the story? As stated above, show up prepared. If you experience difficulty, know that the instructors are there to help you not hurt you. We all want well trained and confident pilots out on the line. All of our jobs are effected when we bang up an airplane.

We will need all the help we can get with 5 more 747s coming online this year alone!

Been watching this thread quietly for quite some time. And, I think it might be time to speak up...
Yes, Kalitta holds our pilots to a high standard. And, both the interview process and the training are challenging. It is by design. We literally could send you anywhere on earth. And, you might be the first Kalitta crew that ever went there. Pick your favorite scary airport and imagine dropping a 747 into it.
Our support structure is pretty lean. So, you are basically getting the keys to the big jet and sent on your way. In order to protect the careers of all the tribe, we must be comfortable that you are up to the task.
See ya in the schoolhouse...

Well said, and true. I think what most people, at least myself, are trying to make sure, is that the training is FAIR.
We don't expect it to be an easy pass- and it shouldn't be!! As you said, this is a freakin 747!!
But I think people get concerned when they hear of people being sent packing- these are people's careers and lives we're talking about.
Ok if you're not prepared you're not prepared and don't deserve to pass. But anyone can have a rough day in the sim; maybe they have a newborn baby on the way or a new mortgage payment- it's not right to send them packing just due to a bad day- give them another chance!! Pilots are trainable- very few can bat 1.000 in the sim.

Well said, also
But, if you look at the real statistics (as opposed to rumor), there are very few ever sent packing. We work very hard to get everyone up to speed.you have to demonstrate a consistent pattern of failures before the hammer comes out.

One of the biggest reasons why ACMI Crews should be highly compensated.

Isn't K4 the highest paid ACMI?

One of the highest. Seems like they don't have a lack of applicants.

Under the NEW CBA it would take multiple training failures, review boards, etc... to send one packing.
