Default Anyone know anything about Kalitta?

I actually live in Michigan (near YIP) and have been hearing a lot about Kalitta, but nothing really about the QOL. I met one lady who was a Medevac pilot over there, and she said that they're two weeks on call, two weeks off, but I was just wondering if anyone had any information about what the QOL is over there now?

Thank you so much for all your help!

I believe you are asking about Kalitta Charters or Kalitta Charters II. Charters flies Lears and Hawkers and does some medevac work. Charters II flies B727, B737 and DC 9 equipment on mostly auto parts animal charters and a little DHL. If you are asking about Kalitta Air, the 747 operation, follow the link above for more info than you could ever want. For the other two try the charter forum.

sky jet, it's bad, REALLY bad. You just have to trust me. Run as fast as you can and as far as you can. If you're that desperate, go to IFL or Royal but be prepared. It's hard work. Kalitta is a place you go after no-one else will take you, ie;DUI. They run their crews ragged and will constantly threaten, or will actually, fire you. You don't need a bad record or worse, a violation.

Here's The " Dead Serious " Truth:

K4, Kalitta, is not as horrible as some make it out to be...It is what it has always been. A Port in a Storm.

It will be Good for you If :

- If you are unable to be hired elsewhere ( ever ) - K4

- If you are young and just want to "Eff Around" for awhile more -K4

- If you are single, have no Life , don't need to be anywhere else -K4

- If you are flexible and not STUPID (and therefore don't allow yourself to be hosed by scheduling) - K4

- If you have enough money without relying on pay - K4

- If you want to see the World and don't care how - K4

It will be Bad for you If :

- You have a life, a wife, a girlfriend, a business, a family, a career ahead of you and/or no money in the bank.

Other than that, I've had a blast here, and my QOL has been equal to or better than my time spent at other carriers (to include a previous Major ) but, the environment is rapidly becoming toxic with Contract Issues and Section 6 negotiations.

Here's the gist...As I stated above K4 has always been Port in a Storm for the last few decades of no hiring, furloughs, etc.

That Storm is OVER...with EVERY airline in the World hiring at a frantic pace and Retirements at the U.S. Majors/Legacys accelerating at a rapid pace over the next decade.

K4 will cease to exist sooner rather than later as they can not remain competitive enough with pay, benefits, and QOL to keep people from going elsewhere. Not now, not ever.

So, come on in , the waters fine, just to say you did it and to get the type. See the World for a bit and have some fun until A) your number comes up elsewhere if you are young... OR, B) you are older and need something to do for a few months in Lieu of being a Walmart Greeter or a Serial Masturbater.

( Not that there's anything wrong with that. )

Disclaimer : The above is in reference to Kalitta Air-747 Ops. Kalitta Charters is a completely separate company.
