Default Kahului/Maui

For reasons I don't understand myself, we will be visiting Maui for the first time at the end of November.

Any recommendations for hotel, must see sights, must eat food (spam sandwiches), must visit restaurant, must visit food truck.

We do plan to get a rental car.

Thanks.

Have stayed in Kihei several times, 20 minute drive from ogg. Lots of restaurants in Lahina (half hour drive or so). Snorkling at Molokini crater is always a good bet. Kannapali has some of the highest priced hotels on the island. I did a 172 rental checkout from Maui aviators when I was there about 15 years ago, made it my own sight seeing flight. Whales might be migrating that time of year too.

Talking Here today, gone to Maui

The Iao valley and the road to Hana would be my top choices. I'd suggest staying overnight in Hana, since a round trip can be pretty tiring.

If you are going to be there any length of time, I would look up renting a condo form an owner. Kihei has tons of them, although it isn't the prettiest place to stay. Eating out is very expensive in Hawaii. Lots of dive shops in Kihei if you dive or want to learn it is a good place for that. In the winter, the waves get bigger, but I'm not sure if it's everywhere.

If you go on the road to Hana, be sure to see Lindberg's grave at the Anglican Church
