Its until your 31st birthday. If you arent there yet, get moving so you can keep the option open. WCS, just turn down a later offer.

from Saabrowski "or the time you and your CA got a really good deal on some "entertainment" in Gaudalajera Mexico, and laugh about it the whole leg back in the morning."

Did this entertainment involve a horse and a human?

Seriously, I agree with Saab. Life is good to you sometimes, and life sucks sometimes. Do what you enjoy and enjoy what you do. I have been through the ringer flying downrange with the military, but it was good times flying with my crews and it may have sucked, but we got through it and it made us better people. Remember, all this BS builds character.

Life is hard, Life is not fair, Life is also long. We have COMPLETE control in the fact that we can go find another job tomorrow. I know it is easier said then done, but the reality is you can find a job that will pay as much as a Regional CA & FO, almost anywhere now a days. The glory of the job is long gone, but the people remain the same. I LOVE being an airline pilot. I love the ****ty ERJ 145, I love NY controllers and I love landing in a 40kt crosswind. Being a Mortgage broker was the best career a few years ago, now look at it. Working on Wall St may seem appealing but its 7 days a week and more stressful then 121 flying will ever be, not to mention the low-life back stabbing scum you will work with (much like SCABS and GoJET pilots). Our country is in a world of hurt right now and seems like the OIL business is the only good industry to be in. I say don't give up just yet! Hard times will come and go, stick it out and do your part to try and make things better.

My sister is a lawyer, makes good money but is miserable, I make no money and am only miserable half the time, haha. Do what you have to do, but know that wherever you end up in life you will look back and miss breaking out of a layer to a setting sun out west, or the feeling of making a great x-wind landing, or the time you and your CA got a really good deal on some "entertainment" in Gaudalajera Mexico, and laugh about it the whole leg back in the morning.

The point of my rambling is when you think your life cant get any worse or your job cant get any crappier...................chances are it/they will, but doesn't mean you have to give up, Every Industry has its ups and downs, unfortunately the incompetent Execs at airlines are doing a better job of making this industry less stable then any other. Stand tall and fight the good fight. Leave the industry if you have to, but be very very careful because things can and will turn around, and when they do, do you want to be in a cubicle? <-----Even if that cubicle makes you a lot of money, usually all the money in the world cant make people happy.....
good post, but once again, it seems like everyone thinks if you leave aviation, its for a cubicle. I know it's probably a figure of speech, but Not always the case. BTW, my wife is an attorney, and loves it. Also, she left practicing law for a few years, and when she decided to come back, she did as an "of counsel", and didn't start at the bottom as an associate. She was also told WHEN she was going to make partner. There are literally only a few jobs in aviation. at least in other professions, there are more opportunities.

thanks guys, I dunno lately the worse the industry has gotten the more I have been thinking. Life is tough but something about the experiences and people I have met in the industry....................awesome guys/girls. At least we are all in this together and hopefully one day we can all look back at these posts and smile.

One day I am going to write a book

Through 10,000ft, the confessions of an airline pilot............sex, donkey shows and 6hr ground stops

Well, that goes to the core of my decision....I HATED the company I was working for! Once I realized I was on home reserve and I was dreading going on a trip (because dealing with Skeds/Ops/Maint was going to be such a PITA) it was time to leave.

Default All the money

All the money in the world can't make some people happy, but no money at all makes no one happy. Flying is fun but eventually it becomes a job.

Poor and 25 is alright. Poor and 45 stinks. I don't care how many sunsets and free hotel rooms you get money helps a lot towards having a satisfying and peaceful life as you get older. Kids need braces. College accounts and retirements need funding.

Stability and professional advancement add a lot to financial security. If everyone could make it to UPS while they were still young enough to benefit from it then would be a different situation.
