Suggestions?

Yeah Sky - I read that book and saw the movie too. Trying to make fact out of fiction? I'm sure there are cheaters in every career field. You're just dragging the profession downhill hill by making such sweeping accusations and suggesting that pilots are worse than anyone else. Shame on you.

I am not trying to make a morality statement. All I am saying is that in the past airline pilots made enough money so that they could afford several families. Today it is becoming hard to support just one to even a lower middle class level as a major airline pilot.

In the past a driving force for a pilot career was that you could enjoy a better life as a pilot. The jobs are still there but the dream is gone. AA, UAL, DAL or a job driving heavy equipment at the dump? Its all about the same anymore.

Then you should have said that a pilot in the past could afford many nice things for HIS/HER family. Your statement is out of line Sky. Defend it how you want.

About 40% of the pilots I flew with were loyal to their wives. Most of those were too unattractive to cheat if they wanted to.

Sweeping generalization? Not so much.

To me it is a symbol of how much things have changed. In my home town when I was in college a well known 747 captain was served with divorce papers by his wife of 25 years. Sadly he peacefully went through the process until the fateful day came and his divorce was finalized.

The following week he moved his secret family from Asia to town. His ex-wife was so embarrassed that she moved away. Eventually he also sold his big ranch and other investments and moved to Hawaii where I heard that he got yet another divorce years later and brought over yet another secret family.

I don't care that he had multiple secret families nor do I think it is a good idea. It just is amazing to me that he could afford all that, absorb a few divorces, and keep on trucking as if he was made of gold. I can hardly think of a pilot job today that could afford as much.

You stick with criticizing for making stereotypes but generalizations like that usually have some fact behind it. The main issue is that even if they wanted to pilots today can't afford those kinds of shenanigans.

Cash can make even the most unattractive look like a movie star.

He'll probably die penniless. I'm sure he is just a good example of someone who lived well outside his means.

Agreed, if it's even true. I'd like to see some documentation... There must be some kind of news article about that.

That is the way to take a single incident out of your life story and turn it into "many" Sky. I suppose if I could come up with a SINGLE case where a pilot was faithful to the spouse then my opinion would carry as much weight? How about you say "I knew A PILOT...." and then state your experience instead of stating "pilots"? You continue to amaze me.

Actually, that sounds too much like a book. Sometimes I think Sky would give John Grisham a run for his money if he would just focus his energy and admit most of what he types is fiction, he could honestly have a really good career as an author. He does have a heck of an imagination, and obviously a nack for putting words to paper, so believe it or not SKy im saying you have talent but youd make more money off it by writing a book.:D
