Default Teaching English

Since i've been in Colombia and love this country, I thought about teaching enlish if I ever left aviation for any amount of time. I would love to come here, specificaly Medellin, or head to Japan. I recently passed my CFI ride and have a good basic knowledge on the fundamentals of teaching. How does one get into this sort of work? South America or Japan would be great. I speak German fluently, know some Japanese, and have learned so much Spanish since I've been here. I'd really like to live abroad somewhere.

Dave's ESL Cafe

The most comprehensive place online to find English jobs overseas. A bunch of my friends have found jobs through here.

Good luck!

I have been CFIing Chinese contract students for the past 18 months and over and over again they tell me how much I would enjoy teaching English in China. I looked into it a few years ago but wound up with this job. I'm in!

If anyone is intersted in teaching English in Korea, send me a PM. I've been teaching in Korea for 5 years at both hagwons (language academies) and public schools. In addition to teaching, I recruit teachers and there is no fee for me to find you a position.

Default re: Korea is looking,

Korean Airlines and Asiana are looking for English teachers for their flight attendants and to some extent, their locally trained pilots. I have stumbled upon some jobs like this while surfing the web looking for alternative jobs or "fillers" while I await the much desired gig in the Majors. Also, Korea as a whole are looking for English teachers so I'm sure it won't be hard for you find a job there, getting paid some where around $20,000-$35,000, depending on where you go.(You'll obviously get paid more if you work closer to the major cities)

The English teachers I have run into in Korea and China were not making that kinda of money. More like 15-20 or just enough to survive. YMMV

Who did you run into? Just enough to survive?

How did I afford trips to Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand, Philippines, and 1 month in Europe if I was just surviving? How did I SAVE at least $20k/year when I was just surviving? hmmmm...
