is there a doctor on board?
just wondering if anyone has done it or knows someone that became a doctor after being a pilot? I want to hear how it went and if it was a good move.

I know a guy that became an MD last furlough and this furlough is doing a residency in anesthesiology. I only met him a few times but you could tell he is extremely intelligent and a hard worker. He seemed to be happy but cautioned me that the best day of anesthesia is still worse than the best day in the air. It's been over a year since I last spoke to him so don't know if he still feels that way or what his future plans may be.

i'm with you on that. i know a anaesthesiologist that is telling me to become a doctor. made the thread to get more info pertaining to a pilot doing this. the funny thing is, i asked him what he would do if he wasn't a anaesthesiologist, he said he would be a pilot lol(no joke). thanks for the responses everyone.

Hey Puckhead, sorry no info on pharmacy, but you can read up on this link. Probably way more information than you bothered for.

Hope it helps. Good luck.

Guys and Gals,
I researched medical fields quite thoroughly as I approached furlough number two, and one website mentioned to me by a physician that you may find very helpful is: Student Doctor Network Forums | An educational community for students and doctors spanning all the health professions.
It's a forum for healthcare professionals and I think you'll find some great information there. At the very least, you can see what people are worried about on that side of the fence and what it would take to chase a healthcare career!
All the best,
Mish

I'm not yet... I'm just starting the whole process, so I have about 5 years ahead of me at least to get it done. A friend of mine just graduated from CRNA school and is helping me through the process, seems like a really good gig he has. I'm going for it.... then I'm buying a helicopter and keeping it in my backyard.
