Sorry to change the subject but... AOPA? Gleim? FAAST Wings? I am up for renewal too. Been thinking about using Gleim online.

Use American Flyers. $125 bucks for life. No need to pay again. Fast and easy. That is what I did last time.

Mine expires in March, but I am renewing by taking the AGI and applying for the Gold Seal. The next time I renew it'll probably be by getting the MCFI.

Default CFI Renewal

I just renewed also, have been using the American Flyers FIRC-for-Life since around 2002. Every two years, coinciding with my renewal, I get the 'aviation bug' once again, visit the forums to see how the job market is, then bow my head and shuffle away in silence - I left the career in 1996 with USAF, Part 135, and CFI experience under my belt, was fighting to fly left-seat in a Navajo for $200 bucks a week and finally got sick of the whole industry. Two years between renewals is usually enough for me to forget all of the misery and remember nothing but the great times in the clouds, then I come to the forums and snap back to reality... I'd like to instruct, but I live in the cloud-ridden economically-crashed northeast, so even the CFI business has dried up around here. Still, I keep renewing and hope for blue skies...

I am now an official Gold Seal, with 2 more years of flight instruction priviledges. At the FSDO, I wandered around, because nobody gave me any direction as to where to go or what to do, and all seemed too busy to answer a question. I found out later from my wife that I could have been shot. Go government, yay!

I haven't taught for over 10years. Renewed it every 2 years until last year... I finished the course online. Went on a 4days trip end of the month and went to the FSDO one week late. The FAA dude said sorry. So, I'm thinking of getting it back one of these days. But everytime I think about taking the checkride, I don't know if I can even pass the FAR. I'm so lost... what do I need in order to fly in TRSA, and TCA any way?

Could be worse. At my FSDO they won't even see you without an appoitment.

Same here. I couldn't even get into the parking lot without an appointment. I just didn't know I had to wait for an escort to get to the office. I just started wandering around on my own, like usual, trying to find it myself.
