Ive actually already picked the FSDO a location I want and it was on my TOL. Only thing left for me is my flight check. That’s great! You should get the FOL pretty quick after the flight check. So unless i grazed over it a little too quick in this thread I only found a few generalized answers on experience of the flight check. All others were “PM sent”. Anyone have anything else? It would be greatly appreciated.

GAOP - It’s kinda like an abbreviated PA-44 CAMEL practical test. The evaluating ASI will act as safety pilot AND will perform SIC duties if you ask them to. Hint: Ask!
ACOP- B-737NG sim - Abbreviated, very basic, 1/4 of an ATP type ride. Don’t scare the evaluator, use the checklist, and say “correcting” when you exceed PTS tolerances, and you will pass. |

There’s a ton of info in this thread and nothing has changed. There are 90+ GA openings and very few applicants, so if you can fly and are personable, some location will grab you. Still no guarantee you’ll get the location you want but odds are getting better everyday.

Be interesting what they do to help stop the loss and refill the ranks. I've already heard some ideas. Which some I'll whole hardly support and others I hope never happen. |

I just received a VM that I need to schedule a phone interview for the ASI-GAO position (I only applied 2 weeks ago), so it seems like things are moving fast at the FAA. Anything I should be prepared to talk about on the phone interview? Thanks everyone for all the good info on this forum. |

I’m not sure about a phone “interview”, but HR did do what I would call a brief phone screen before I got scheduled for the formal interview. It was basically are you still interested, what offices would you be interested in (they told me which of those had openings), how soon would you be available to report to duty if hired, etc. They also asked to verify my resume was current and my list of references. I believe they also told me what grades I had qualified for and asked which I’d be willing to accept. Once I answered all those questions, they immediately scheduled a formal interview date.

The agency as a whole is really hurting for GA Ops, so odds are you’ll be able to find something at an office close by. HR will definitely tell you during the phone screen, and you might be able to get more information by calling the contact listed on the announcement on USA Jobs. |
