Excellent question IMO:

Back in the military:
Infantry (special ops, ranger, etc)
Marine/Navy Pilot

Civilian:
Astronaut...um, hell yeah...

Aeronautical Engineer working on commercial airliners, designing wings, engines, etc.

Doctor, the knowledge, authority and decision making fascinate me.

Vulcanologist, I'm really interested in this.

CIA/NSA, etc.

I'm pretty happy with my current job, but I'd like to give all of those a fair shot over many years. Unfortunately there just isn't enough time and your parents were lying when they said "you can do whatever you want". Doing a couple of these is realistic, but I'd like to do all of them, and more. We're trained to think within our "bounds", but I hate being limited.

I love flying, I always have and I am sure I always will. However, I have been thinking recently that maybe that maybe the 121 "living the dream" lifestyle may not be for me. Before I was afflicted with the disease known as Aviation, I was in school to be a history teacher. I have always regretted not getting the degree. I am thinking about going back to school to pursue that, and hopefully I would be able to find some kind of flying gig on the side. Anyone else in a similar boat? What else would you do if you weren't a pilot?
Any updates on where your life is at, Van Driver?

If I could do it again I would have liked to have become an accountant.

Being a big proponent of a good education, I'd urge you to go and finish your degree regardless of where you end up in your aviation career.

You won't regret it.
