Default How long for SWA call after app in?

I do not have a type on the 737, but seem to be competative otherwise. How long after I've submitted on application would be a normal period of time to expect a call for an interview?

Thanks!

One thing is for sure, there is no rhyme or reason to anything that happens.
I know of friends who received the call within a few weeks, others over a year. Friends with a lot less time, no type, hired. Friends with major amounts of experience, typed, turned away.
Speaking for myself, put in my app, typed, and was called 10 months later.
Interviewed, turned down. Have waited a year now, updated and waiting to see if they call again.
Classmate of mine from type was called two weeks after I was. Interviewed two weks after I did.. hired and loving it.
Who knows, you may get the call Monday morning!!
Regardless.. wish you the best of luck.

Most of my friends who had the type got called in about a month. One guy actually got called within a few days after submitting his app.

As for me, took about 4 months to get the call. I also had the type.

Rumor goes, that if you have the type, generally you're looked at first.

According to the People Dept., not only do you get looked at first if you have the type, you get looked at weekly. Whereas you get looked at monthly if you don't have the type. I don't have any intel on how long it takes to get a call w/o a type. I would guess it's in the several months or longer range - depending on your PICT.

For me, no call prior to the type. Application on file for about 1 year with monthly updates 3500TT, 2000TPIC. After the type 5 weeks. Interviewed 6 weeks later and hired 5 weeks after that. A lot of waiting!

Wonder how often us second timers, with a type, are looked at.
Any gouge?

3.5 yrs w/o type and still no call. plenty of PIC, all military ME turbine

I not a gambler and don't like the odds enough to pay for the type and only a 25% chance of being hired.

......and the wait continues

Well have been more of a "lurker" as they say for the most part, BUT, since I'm currently starting week 2 at HPA thought it only appropriate to share some very accurate gouge regarding this subject.

PD is currently processing non-typed applicants every 6 weeks and typed applicants weekly. With type, if you have mins or better, expect call "sooner than later". Without type, qualifications are much stricter and they simply have MANY more apps to look at so they may not be getting to all of them each time (my thoughts only). Although they won't get into specifics, I think LL's podcast from last year still holds true. Without the type, its all about having every qual in the book (Stan/eval, check airman, PE, etc) and have a ton of multi engine turbine PIC time.

Two of the guys in my class were hired without the type and waited over a year for the call, both 121 fliers with tons of time. I've had my app in since September with no call. Have all the qual boxes checked, 4000TT, 2000PIC (just shy actually). So my random thoughts think the magic number might be 2000 PIC right now but even then its all on the chance that somehow your app gets pulled out of the HUGE pile of non typed applicants. The other thing they look at is your availability date. There is no pool right now, so those available in near future with the type and available to fly right away are probably going to get a call sooner than someone a year out. Oh, and they're hiring 650 this year and about the same next year, so needless to say they're BUSY.

Must say, however, even though its a heck of an investment now having finally taken the step in getting the type done (not easy by any stretch by the way) and having PD come down Friday its only reaffirmed how incredible of a company and family SWA really is. To each is his own, but what's a few thousand bucks for a $4M career that you're going to LUV?

I've got to get back to work!! Good luck everybody.

FMI, PD was also VERY adamant about the fact that they look favorably on people that try again. Statistically, you actually have a better chance of getting hired during your second look. I want to say it was over 50%? Don't give up!
