Your whole bidding strategy also then has to focus on commuting. So you want late shows and early finishes. Well there goes your productivity. Also, you don't really like flying 4 days do you? Commuting sucks. It makes you flexible to chase flying as it migrates around your system but otherwise it just eats home time and ruins your schedule.

Airlines used to have a ton of bases. EA had BOS, NYC, PHL, DCA, ORD, ATL, MIA, TPA and MCO. It was easy to live in base. Heck, at one time UA had BUF as a base.

I had no idea IAH and MSY were too. Just goes to show you even at mainline bases can come and go. :(
