So I am tasked with taking care of cat from a relative that passed. I need to take this Cat home.
I show up with said well-behaved cat on American, the airline which I have non-rev travel benefits on. They tell me nope, you can only bring an onboard pet IF I work for American or any of their lovely wholly-owned regionals (I work for a non-wholly owned American Eagle airline). I ask if I can just pay them pet fee, they say sure, but you also need a full fare ticket. Interesting. And yes, this info is coming from the AA helpdesk. The local AA agents did their best to sort this out.
Can any of you DL/UA/WN/B6 give me an idea of how this is handled at your airline? Can I buy a ZED in any of these airlines and do so? Or can I Jumpset with a pet carrier and they will allow it? (assuming the max # of cabin pets, etc. is observed AND I get explicit permission from the operating CA to do so)
And before you ask: NO, I do NOT plan on sitting in the physical cockpit jumpseat with a Cat. YES, that cat is healthy and has its paperwork in order, it's just the Vet recommended for it to not travel as cargo.
Guidance appreciated!

Flew for JB for a number of years , we have more animals on our flights that I have ever seen on any other airlines, I think ESP cause JB dominates so much of Florida , where every senior citizen has 3 emotional support animals , and they all scam the system. That being said I am sure it could jump seat with a animal and get away with it , talk to the crew etc .
Jump seat as in non rev
