I challenge Doug Steenland at NWA to do the same. Let's see what kind of a man he is. This is his chance to come clean. To make it all right. This is the big test. Will he do the right thing, sacrifice as so many families have had to do throughout the years. This will show that he did infact make decisions for the good of the company and not for his own personal wealth. I also predict that if he does sell his soul, he will resign soon after NWA departs bankruptcy.

I will take your DS over DAL's GG anyday. The day they both went into the same bankruptcy court, DAL argued that they did not have to pay the unqualified portion of the pilot's retirement. Many went from their earned annuity to zero the next month. NWA on the other hand stated that they were obligated to pay any unqualified benefits. All done on the very same day in the same court building. Also check and see what NWA bonds will be worth out of BK compared to DAL's.

And ask what the unionized pilots are getting out of this 10 mil. Nada, squat, zip, take a hike....Only applies to "non unionized" employees. Still think it is a cool thing to do?

Skyone, Nothing personal, but your an idiot!!! I knew it wouldnt take long before someone starting screaming "sour grapes" about how much money the pilots gave up. Yes, the pilots have given up a sh1t load and its unfortunate, but Grinstein didnt have to do this at all, but he did... I still stand by my "class act" comment.

First it's "you're" not your. Of course it's sour grapes. The termination of the pilot pension will cost me over $2 million of a pension that was earned over 25 years. This is a blatant anti-union tactic. No other pensions were terminated and this is the rank and file's reward for keeping the unions at bay. GG has been a one trick pony since his days at Western.

If I were a major creditor and was going to get around 50 cents on the dollar for what Delta owed me, and they are giving the employees a "reward". I think I would second guess a decision to approve the BK exit plan.

Sort of like USAir screwing the pilots out of their pension, but magically finding some financing/money in the billions to try and buy Delta.

So how would it sit with you, if say, UPS decided (probably illegally though) to manipulate a vote on your unions and get word that a major bonus was in the makings, if the union were to be voted off? Would never happen with all the laws, etc., but just the same.........

It IS nice for the rank and file, but it isn't being done because of wonderful generousity of GG. He and his minions were the one's that took a great airline like Delta once was and put it in the crapper. He is the one that approved the SERP (senior executive retirement plan), where all the senior executives' retirement was moved offshore and protected from BK. Tell me again what a great guy he is?

Again, great for the rank and file. They have taken some serious hits over the years. But don't sit there and say what a swell guy GG is, when over the last twenty years he has personally done more damage to DAL than Lorenzo, AirTran, 9/11 and fuel prices put together.
