Interviews will be held later this month. They've already hired a few folks for their CRJ flying.

As for selling the company off, only time will tell. There are a lot of similarities between Compass and Mid-Atlantic, so who knows.

I have an application in there. It is for the same reason as the original poster. I would like to be in the MSP area.

With that said, I would be very careful with Compass. It is clearly a ploy by NWA to 'divide and conquer' the pilots. By 'outsourcing' the flying rather than keeping it purely in-house, they are leaving themselves some options and flexibility with furloughs and payscales, etc. Whether or not the flowthrough would really work remains to be seen as well.

I would like an opportunity there, but see it as something to be very careful about too unless you can get left seat very rapidly. I am not in the same position as the original poster (with his loads of PIC time) so have fewer options. But I can totally understand the desire to be closer to home and not commute, etc. It is tempting, but use extreme caution because as we all know, NWA plays hardball and unfairly with their employers and vendors.

I would tend to think that someone with your experience would be putting an unnecessary detour on your career by taking a position with Compass. If you look a little longer term, you may be able to step up to NWA and step back to MSP.

To everyone who is hoping for a flow through from Compass to NWA, It's gonna work as well as the deal with AA and Eagle.

Actually the flow would have brought many over if certain events had not occured (ie 9-11, economic downturn and furloughs).

Not sure you can blame the agreement when the results were based upon the economics of the company and industry.

I think I am just going to take my chances and wait for NWA to hire off the street way too risky for me at this point. Maybe 4 yrs ago I would have gone for it. But after 3 yrs I am due a raise, in another yr. Thanks everyone...

I respect your situation at Comair. Believe me... I know whats going on there. To hang in there will reqire alot of faith in your organization. Its hard right now. I suppose that is all the commentary a working man has to offer... good luck.

Compass is a NWA regional in hiding

Still believe the names "Compass and Mesaba" will go away the day that NWA emerges from bankruptcy. There will be a new name "regional" with three types of aircraft (SAAB, ERJ, CRJ) and two pilot groups. Flow thru / back will not be applicable to "former" Mesaba pilot group.

Don't think the two pilot group will last more then a few months. :confused:
